A climbing plant/shrub that will grow in partial shade. Any suggestions but NOT clematis, I like star jasmine, something that possibly may be evergreen but I’d rather not have a white flower? Something that makes an impact as I have trellis either side of my front porch way. Thank you

Hi and welcome to GC. I would suggest an evergreen Honeysuckle. They like sun or partial shade. You can get various colours, they grow quickly and have a lovely scent. I am not fond of white flowers.

Hi Victoria thank you lovely. No I’m not a fan of white flowers either but great if there are different options :spinning: I will have a look at these. Are they evergreen at all?

As much as I personally dislike it, you could try Ivy. It grows really fast and counts towards evergreen. But it doesn't really flower, so...

Another idea would be a kiwi plant. I have two (one "Issai" and one "Jenny"). Depending on your taste one could be for you. The one below should be the "Issai" flowering greenish but only slightly visible. It really shines at the end of the year when it's harvest time.

Another idea would be to use a grape vine. The have smallish and barely visible white flowers, so hopefully they don't count....

Also you could go with scarlet runner beans. But those need to be sown every year....

Or you could plant a rose bush. There are some that grow really high and if you bind them to the trellis, they almost count as climbers.

Yes, they are evergreen, well, most are. Lonicera japonica. I did mine from a cutting years ago and it is easy to keep it trimmed. This was last week ...

Thanks black dog I’m currently trying to rid my garden of ivy growing across the ground, hate the stuff. But I’ll look into your other suggestions. Thank you for taking the time to reply
