Mine has just had a flush too, it's only quarter the size of yours.

Google says they are monocarpic so maybe you don't want it to flower?

I think I need to get another one of these, planted my last one out and it died in the freeze 10yrs or so ago.

Got mine after that 2010 big freeze, in 10 years it's flushed every year but still is small. I keep thinking I'd like one the size of @Victoria's but they are pricey.

I dig mine up each year and think that is disturbing the root system. I must get a big pot and use that in future, just bury the pot over the summer and bring into the greenhouse over winter.

Last week I spotted 2 pretty big cycads up not for sale, but free to any one who would take them away.

They were so big I had to ask if she thought they would fit in a Ford focus at which point she said I'll come back to you if nobody else wants them.
Apparently she had had them outside, in large stone pots for the last 14years, over in the medway town's somewhere.
Needless to say they were gone when I looked the next day.

No, I do not want it to flower if that happens! I got it c2005 and she has a little trunk now. She flushes every year. About this time of year she gets a bit of yellow on her but then it disappears.

                  What s shame.

Conflicting I agree Victoria, I was only going by a quick Google, I know very little about them.

The cycad family is definitely not monocarpic
                        They cone every few years

Perhaps they meant dioecious, as there are separate male and female plants

I had a feeling that they were not monocarpic, but wasn't sure.
Apparently, I think it's some form of encepholartos, at Kew is the oldest pot plant in the world, a couple of hundred years maybe, forgotten actual age, but I assume that has coned occasionally.

Yes, there is an Encephalartos altensteinii which arrived at Kew in the late 1700's I believe
