My thesis defies further elucidation, I haven´t a leg to stand on.

Possibly my favourite sketch of all time shiney -- spot on!
Someone else not having a leg to stand on is John Kerry, having the nerve to criticise China´s pollution problems while America has totally unnecessary and provocative military bases every few yards along the Chinese coast plus ships and planes cruising 24/7 -- that´s my moan for the day.

I'm really into my Grumpy Old Man groove now.

Had a moan at Wickes when their website wouldn't let me complete a click and collect order because I wouldn't put in a mobile number. If you're going to collect and have already given email and landline then there shouldn't be any need for a mobile to be a 'required field'.

Had a moan at our renewal premium for our health insurance which they said they were increasing by £470 (reason:- higher expenses and us being a year older). I got them to reduce the new premium by over £500.

Received an epistle from BT saying "We want to keep you up to date" and then told me that my landline contract had run out and I have been put on their standard rate. I got through on the phone without being held in a queue and when the person on the other end asked me how he could help I told him I had received their document and wanted to know why they hadn't kept me up to date! :heehee: He sounded puzzled so I said that if they want to keep me up to date they should send it out before the contract runs out.

After a fair amount of haggling we agreed on £3 less than their 'cheapest' rate - which was the one I was on originally. :blue thumb:

I will not be growing Convolvulus again. They need deadheading every day - it's just too much work.

Why are you deadheading. They are one day wonders and self cleaning. How would you like to deadhead this wall and orange orchard on the lane to my friend's house near here?

My sister kindly planted one by the lampost on our property. T'other Half loved it and started to train it across our double gates. It had to go as we had a single sliding gate installed. Now the sodding thing is trying to strangle one of my Oleander and creeping everywhere and we can't get rid of the root! Grrrr!!!

Is that convolvulus @Victoria or is it Ipomoea, the one that I grow in a pot.

Would it be at all possible for someone to explain the function of a microphone to the Olympic commentators, and that these devices render it completely unnecessary to scream like a wounded piglet ?

Perhaps they aim for the old fashioned feel and are underequipped? Warning, my Dad's joke #2 coming...

Not Ipomaea indica? Perennial? That's turned out to be a bit of a thug here. But then the annual Ipomaea self sow like crazy too. Never mind.....I like things that are so happy they self-sow :)

I am heartily sick of being told that Stonehenge was built by hunter gatherers.
If you had the precise astronomical knowledge, the mathematical nouse, and the ability to quarry and transport huge stones for miles over rough ground -- would you be content to live in a hut made from mud and sticks?
                          In England ??
Pull the other one - it´s got bells on !

This is a moan at an attitude. I went to the petrol station to fill up a can for my mower, as well as filling my car. An attendant rushed out to try and stop me filling the can (too late) and told me, in an unpleasant tone, that I'm not allowed to fill rusty cans as it is dangerous. I agreed with him but pointed out that the can wasn't rusty but was originally painted red and the paint had worn a lot. He then said in a nasty tone that all petrol cans must be green. So I told him he should check the HSE government website and that it doesn't restrict the colour of cans. He actually did so on one of these things called a mobile phone! He found I was correct. :roflol:

Apologies. I finally got around to looking in my Collins Complete Mediterranean Wildlife book and it is Heavenly Blue Ipomaea tri-color or Glória da manhã. But we have all the different Convolvulus and Calystegias growing wild here and the locals call it all the same. This indicates it is I indica ...

We have to keep pulling it up every few weeks.
