Are you hoping for a cone.

I'm not sure what a pregnant cycad looks like, I assume you're watering it well.

I bought a small one a few weeks ago, kind of replacement for the one in planted out and lost.

It is lovely. This was some time after I got mine in 2007.

Still looks like early fronds to me. Mine were very similar but maybe a touch more vertical. You can also slice off the small cyads from the trunk to propagate

After 16+ years I have no babes. But I have a nice trunk now.

I think I have got mine too late to expect a flush this year.

Another nine days on, we have never known it to be so slow fronding/flushing ...

Obviously not a car, but is this the kind of thing you mean.

It doesn't seem to understand me ... maybe I should try Japanese.

Do you water it right into the centre of the plant.

No, it has always been watered from the base and has a spray go over it for 15 minutes at night. This "post" sticking up is a water sprayer (camouflaged with artificial ivy), comes on at 11.30pm and waters everything on the raised patio, all to the left beyond the trellis and to the right. In extra hot weather it gets a hose watering at the base as do all the other pots several times a week. It has never been affected in the past by lack of water. Do you think a few extra douses in the center would help.
