I dont know to be honest, but watching the Olympics the weather in Japan seems to be very hot and humid at this time of the year.

Just wondering if humidity might play a part.

I suspect the "problem" is age.

For a plant that takes hundreds of years to reach full size of 3m+
This one is still a baby.

I appreciate that. They can flower at this age but I would think not in a pot. My "query" is what is going on as it does not look like new fronds two months on. Normally by now they would be up and waving in the breeze.

When I had a half decent one I often used to think it had a new flush coming, only to find out it just formed those stubby bits without going into new full leaf.
At the time I put it down to variable weather that we get here, but maybe it is just something they do.

Maybe a feeding problem being that it is in a pot.
Plant it out and let it rip.

At this point I will let nature take its course and I will revisit here later.

Best option I think. I reckon any slowness is purely down to weather. I'm thinking about potting mine on soon but have to check stock levels of bandages and plasters first!

Finally got round to potting on my cycas today, total bugger to get out! Had to resort to using a palette knife but finally got it out to see nice healthy roots :)

That is a good size @Loofah. How old is it? Will you take the lower (yellow) ring off?

Not sure tbh. I got it around 4 years ago I think but no idea on age

I usually wait a bit for the yellowing ones to get a bit more yellow before removing or it can look a bit bare
