A couple of months ago I purchased a piece of fake laurel expanding trellis - ideal for decorating the new trellis which is placed on the patio. Paid £50.

Just seen the same trellis is Home Bargains for £24.99.

    I was somewhat cross.

Sorry i haven't posted much it's because of the shortage of lorry driver's  this excuse is being used to cover up lots of other things going wrong, some companys have changed their pay & conditions in the last lock down and have staff shortage's so some things are not on the shelf's

If you know how some things are made and know what is going on in the back ground you will see things but i hate it when you know somethings and other things are used as an excuse:nonofinger:

Who would be a lorry driver these days.
Stiff rules to follow regarding driving hours, shortage of rest areas.
        Traffic jams everywhere.
Road closures at the drop of a hat and 30 mile detours.

Must be a nightmare of a job on our quaint over crowded roads.

You forgot all the bull_ _ _ _ you get and some places treat you like dog poo and then there is the very nice places you go to but they are getting far and few between
Go to places and you have to wait 30 + hours to tip etc
go to have a shower and tis broken and very dirty etc some times it's better to have a strip wash in the public loo's but then you got to watch out for the police
          The list goes on
I'm glad i packed up after 40+ years

@MrDigwell that's a nice thing you did. I usually give my delivery guys a gift card at Christmas and mid summer. I asked them which type of card they'd like, "Timmies?" Got a little smile but when I said, "maybe LCBO?" big grins and smiles. So that is what they get.

School is back in today and when I went to pick up something at the big box store, it was old coots like me. Miss the young ones!

We used to give out Christmas cards but we stopped doing it years ago, now we give them a 10 pack of beer or a bottle wine.

During the first lockdown, we put tea, coffee, hot chocolate, juice, pot noodles and rustler's burgers in the office for any of the HGV drivers and white van drivers delivering to us. The small things can mean so much, yet cost so little.

I found during the pandemic nobody would accept anything you offered.
A nurse who attends a woman down the road couldn't start her car back in Feb during the snow.
She was parked outside my house and was sitting in the freezing cold car waiting for the AA to turn up, so I went out and offered to get her a hot drink.

She just refused and hardly opened the car window to say no.
I kind of felt like an idiot even offering under the circumstances.

Why oh why, when someone translates their name into English letters, don't they spell it phonetically!

I'm referring to such as the lady behind many of Canada's head butting with China. Her name at home would be in their symbols/alphabet so when translating to English letters not make it represent how you want it pronounced?

Her name is Meng. Which is pronounced Mung! :rolleyespink: how easy to use the U instead and get immediate results. There's lots of other nationalities here that convert their names to English and none seem to make it "user friendly". . for lack of a better word. And in consequence their names land up being shortening their name to avoid mispronunciation. Sorta going in circles or ??

What is the point of converting from an alphabet few English know to something they can read but don't know how to pronounce!

Ours is phonetiical....it really couldn't be more so, but it's still amazes us what we get called!!

I always get asked 'did I pronounce it right' ? I now say 'no , but no worries, we're used to answering to anything that has a slight resemblance to the correct version' !!

I had a s*** day at Tesco Express today. The Chip and Pin wouldn't work, put my card in, Pin Number, no, tried again and the screen went blank:rolleyespink: They had to transfer my shopping to another till, this did work ok.

There was quite a long que building behind me.

When I got to the door the alarm went off, but they waved me through:wallbanging:

It wasn't your fault, I've had similar happen to me and they just unplugged the card reader and took one from an unused checkout if I remember correctly.

@john558 there have times when that alarm went off, I was tempted to leg it. Receipt for item in hand but to see what would happen. Just have never had the time when I'm out shopping, other than for gardening stuff, to play.

At least you've got your card, mine seems to have grown legs and walked away. There is no new activity on the account so I know it wasn't stolen but I have searched everywhere in both vehicles and throughout the house and cannot locate it. Had to order a new one

If you saw the size of the security guard in my local Morrisons I think legging it would be a laugh.

He's about 5ft. 2in, and the same measurement around the middle.
