Walked through the woods surrounding the lakes this morning and did a bit of Blackberry picking as we went.
Lovely morning with a bit more sun around.

Various terrains, pure sand, very trippy! and stoney. IMG_20210912_104314_hdr.jpg IMG_20210912_103919_hdr.jpg IMG_20210912_103947_hdr.jpg

Sorry for the next batch of pics but I love looking at the bark on trees...find them all so beautiful!

Oh @Upsydaisy what a beautiful walk, Those paths through the woods are enchanting.
I also love to notice the bark of trees wild flowers, I'm always taking photos of them, there are so many different textures of bark and I find them fascinating

            You've picked some lovely blackberries.

I hope you found the walk beneficial.

Thanks @Michael Hewett , it is very beautiful and hardly anyone seems to know it exists, thankfully! Although a few people who suddenly seemed to discover our lane last year during lockdown ( it's a dead end lane with only 5 houses+ a farm spread out along its length) used it as their daily exercise walk after asking us for directions to the lakes. But now life is relatively back to normal they've forgotten all about them  There is no entrance to them just a narrow pathway along the side of the field opposite us ,no signs either !

Not too sure how beneficial to my body but it has to be done, really aching now and had to rest up this afternoon, but definitely beneficial to my mind  :dbgrtmb:.

Aw bless you , but no worries Vicky I had R to lean on, and I was moving slower than a tortoise!! It took us 2 hours ,and it's only 5mins away!!

I placed my feet very carefully between the tree roots, most of the time! , but did have one little stumble as I was too busy looking for the blackberries . I didn't fall so that was good but did tip my container carrying the berries!! Still came home with plenty .

I do walk very slowly and cautiously.....must look a right sight but I don't care , I know, hopefully, what my body can cope with at the moment:fingers crossed: .

I have a phone appointment with my GP on Tuesday so I will ask her if she thinks it's Ok/ beneficial to continue.:blue thumb:

Thanks @Logan , it truly is and we appreciate just how fortunate we are having it all on our doorstep. We didn't see anyone else during the whole 2 hours!

@Upsydaisy that is a peaceful and beautiful path. I'm glad to see that you are taking measured steps to recover your mobility.:dbgrtmb:

It is cloudy but still not chilly yet.

I did zero baking. That's a first in many years. I worked most of the day as we had an installation to do and it involved drilling into poured concrete. So glad to be done with it. I had sleepless nights worried about the success of the job.

Tonight I will lay down, read a book and then hopefully do a dummy run on death. And tomorrow is supposed to feature sunshine. Goodmformdrying bed linens outside :)

Thank you Lori, it's amazingly peaceful and tranquil over there and a great escapism from the woes of the world.

Definitely measured steps, very tiny and slow ones. :heehee:

Just been reading this weeks 'Amateur Gardening' magazine. They have a section where they publish letters/articles from years gone by. Here's a couple of examples - oh how things have changed.

1950 - someone complaining about the noise from these new fangled petrol lawn mowers:

"Once the prerogative of large estates where the house was remotely situated, these small motor units are now frequently used for lawn mowing and cultivating in gardens of little more than half an acre."

If petrol mowers are not fitted with silencers then "electricity will quickly replace petrol as a source of power in the garden."

1898 - women gardeners - this one would get you into a lot of trouble if you said it today.

Mrs C W Earle wrote in her Pot Pourri From a Surrey Garden Guide "Women are still behind the other sex in the power of thinking at all, much more so in the power of thinking of several things at once."

I had a text from my Surgery to come along for my Flu Jab today.
I had this Jab for years, but this is the first time it really hurt when the needle went in.
