    @roders Very nice,
    I think you need to stop calling it Christmas cactus;).
    I've seen it described as Thanks Giving cactus on E bay.:biggrin:

    It 's even too early to call it bonfire night cactus.:scratch:

        Not flowering, never has done in the 30 + years I've had it.
        I think it might be Opuntia vestita, but if anybody knows for sure please let me know.
        The smaller one is a rooted piece 3 years old now.

          I dont know what it is exactly, but it would come under Cylindropuntia, Possibly imbricata.

          I remember having one of these years ago

            Austrocylindropuntia vestita is apparently the current name for Opuntia vestita, it could be Cylindropuntia but the pictures I've seen show a less rounded more angular stem.

              Probably why I try not to get involved when it comes to nailing down cacti.:biggrin:

              Is it just furry as opposed to spikey, the one I had was pretty dangerous.

                    It looks to me like Austrocylindropuntia subulata. Opuntia (or whatever they call it) vestitia is more 'furry' ...

                      @Michael Hewett I think you are right. Thanks very much. I'll need a bigger label to get the name on though.

                        Not really grown as houseplants as only just brought them in a couple of days ago, but the warmth has made the flowers open, Cymbidium.

                            They are lovely blooms, and so many too. I didn't know you could put them outside, I have never had any success with them.

                              Tough old plants, they can stay out until the frosts come, although last year these plants were frosted a few times, but it does ruin the flowering.
                              I've never noticed that similarity, but now you mention it..........:scratch::biggrin:
