Ah, it's such an automatic thing to do I have to think for a moment.

There's probably more than one way but mine is as follows...

Click twice at the start of what you want to use, it will hi-light in blue. Hold down the shift key and move along hi-lighting what you need then click once and release the shift key. Underneath that you will see a quote/reply box, hit that and the text should carry down into your posting box.

As @noisette47 points out, there is a "Round up" which contains a different chemical other than glyphosate, its the newer environmentally
      friendly formula.

Both Gallup and Roundup Pro contain glyphosate. Gallup and Roundup Pro is 360, which is 360g glyphosate per litre. Then you have Gallup Hi-Activ and Roundup Pro Vantage think they both are 480, so 480g glyphosate per litre.

I agree Pete, but it doesn't work on bracken.

The pelargonic acid one doesn't work on anything! A total scam. The Glypho I've 'acquired' here is 360g/l but that Hi Activ stuff sounds just the ticket for treating the horsetail fern that's invading from the field next door. (I've got the opposite problem to you, @Sheal ).
If it was available, that is.

With ivy the waxy leaf surfaces prevent the glyphosate from being absorbed by the plant. Maybe a few drops of washing up liquid (biodegradable) might help.
One of the differences between different brands and grades of glyphosate is the presence/type of wetting agent and other additiives.

I'm always confused about these statements of 360gr per litre and 480gr per litre.
I'm obviously looking at it wrong but surely it just means one is more concentrated than the other.
So if you alter the dilution rate doesn't that just mean one bottle of the stuff goes further than the other.

I used to add washing up liquid but don't bother any more as it mostly seems soapy enough anyway.
Someone who used to be on the forum used to suggest using cooking oil to help the stuff stick.

Wasn't that one of the reasons it was claimed to be so bad for the environment (and users) ?
It wasn't the glyphosate itself that caused damage, but the additives, IIRC.

Thanks for the welcomes and replies everyone

I did apply the round up pro on a nice calm day, which didn’t rain until the early hours of the next morning. Guess I’m going to have to face facts and get the knee pads on and start digging

The only horsetail/s I've got here @noisette47 are real ones in the neighbouring field. Joking aside I hope what you've 'acquired' does the trick.

I'm sorry your thread was waylaid @Ryan4661.

I think Round-Up needs six hours of dry weather after it's used so you may have got away with it. I hope it works, it depends on whether the weeds are active enough now, but you should see some results in a week or so if it has.

                    My bit.

360gl glyphosate is 50ml per litre of water. Glyphosate works by being absorbed by the weed through its leaves - so if the weeds are young (few leaves) or not growing (too cold) - it will not work as you want.

Have patience - even in optimal conditions - it can take weeks for the weeds to absorb the glyphosate.

I wouldn't take too much notice of the application rates on the bottle - the manufacturers will give a dilution rate for optimum conditions - so it looks like you are getting more coverage for your money.

No point applying weedkiller at this time of year.
