My Amaryilis is sprouting now. Bought as a dinner party gift....a lovely idea. It's on the kitchen window sill facing due south and loving the strong sunlight this morning.
    Question....will it flower for December 25th? 20211125_093734.jpg

Yes, it gets rather spoilt with a weekly feed of Miracle Grow and that keeps it happy.

I didn't know you could get mini ones, I wonder if they are easier to grow than big ones, I've never had any success with those.

Gosh that's grown quickly!! Very beautiful Jenny.
Do they always grow that quickly...or are you exceptionally green fingered??

Nearly in bloom so they count

Hyacinths that have been in the fridge, covered with foil, for 9 weeks. I tried desperately to stagger them as three is too much fragrance all at once so took only one out last week. However, the two left behind decided to push the foil hat off and screamed to be allowed in the room so here they are. :)

At school, we had a special fridge in the Biology class room for prepared Hyacinths (and dead bodies ready to be cut open, mostly fish and donations from the butcher :th scifD36:). I remember the pride of taking mine (Hyacinth, that is, not a dead body) home on the last day before Christmas break. Hyacinths were The Christmas flowers in 70's Finland, and one "made with my own hands" was very special.
