Banksia

Just an update on the Banksia sent as seedlings from @CarolineL. I was only able to keep one due to lack of space but it is a fair size now.

I managed to kill three of these last winter, in my cold frame, I'm guessing February was too much for them.
But luckily I kept one in the cool greenhouse and its seems to be thriving.

 

They're doing well! Because I had some more, I had put 3 out in autumn 2020 - one survived the winter in my soil, though hasn't done much. Another couple I put out this spring and they appear to have made some growth. I have also put into the garden one bought as a youngster many years ago - it's 6 feet tall and so far looking OK, but I suspect Jan/Feb will test them. They are in the same area as Acacia baileyana, Acacia boormannii (both 6 feet from seed) and corymbia ficifolia and eucalyptus blakelyi (4 feet from seed). I got fed up with having to battle my way through my greenhouse...
Still have some banksia youngsters left if anyone wants them...

 

I'm struggling with the Banksia ericafolia cutting you sent me.
Its in intesive care and not expected to survive the winter.

 

My little ones died soon after they arrived Postman been playing ruby or football with the parcel .

My leucosperum looks like its had it now didn't seem to like being in the house at all , I not sure if the heat off the radiator has pushed it over the edge .

 

Funnily enough my ericifolia cutting has suddenly started looking peaky. I think keeping low temps in the greenhouse is inadvisable - I should have brought it in the house. @Perki I'll send you another B integrifolia in the spring - please remind me.

 

The B. ericafolia was looking really sick and yellow, so I moved it to the conservatory a fair bit warmer.
Its now brown.
