They are advertising for people to be magistrates. you need to be between 18 and 70 (ageists :old: :heehee:).

I was asked a number of times to apply but that was when I was too busy working - but I was also asked to suggest possible candidates (because of positions I held). Five of my suggestions eventually became magistrates and fortunately I didn't have to appear before them.

    Here's the info:-

More useless info from Shiney :heehee:

Just in case anyone puzzles over how the Three R's can stand for Reading, Writing and Arithmetic - it doesn't!
It originally stood (in the meaning we knew it to be) for Reading, Recording and Reckoning but that was back in my younger days. :old:

They are now trying to make the saying stand for something completely different (not in the Monty Python way) but that depends on whether it is education or business.

Reminds me of my short stint as a call centre worker here in the UK. Long story short, the Irish callers faced a challenge with this young Nordic trying to take down their details.

"Can I take your name please?" "Sure, it's ARRRR." "Thanks, would you mind spelling that for me?" "It's ARRR for apple, ARRR for tea, ARRR for sugar, ARRR for o... " and after 10 minutes of joined effort I was looking at my scribbles that showed I was speaking with Mr Brown. :phew:

Needless to say, I was quickly defined to be more Excel- than phone oriented asset for the company :heehee:
