Oh come on now, covid is not worth a mention now we have the Ukraine to
    think about.

The media do love a crisis and we needed a new one.
Not making light of the Ukraine problems, but they had certainly run out of steam on the covid one.

Yes they started this reporting last week. Obviously Mondays figures now look awful, but it's all averages.

I see that Nicola is extending the use of face masks because of an increase in infections. Well, yes Nicola - there will be an increase in infections because restrictions have been lifted in England.

253 people in the whole of the UK are on ventilators with covid - don't know if they are there because of covid. But on balance 253 out of 67 million - what difference do you think face masks will make?

We've been compliant for 2 years now - time is up.

What happened with Brexit - I can't see any difference since we left.

Professor Karol Sikora was on TV yesterday and he conceded that of those 253 on ventilators with covid, that many of them almost certainly were not on them because of covid but had been put on ventilators for other reasons and just happened to also test positive.

Yes both hubby and I received a notification in December but we'd got to wait until end of February, in the meantime the centre that had been set up in town has now closed, we were a tad puzzled as what to do, thankyou for posting, I'll ring the surgery to enquire..

Many of those in England have probably brought it here and increased our infection rate. I think face masks do make a difference and I agree with Nicola extending the time these need to be worn in public places. Let's face it, she's handled the covid situation here better than Boris has in England!

And what about all those that haven't been compliant? If those people had done as they were asked/told then we'd probably be in a better situation now and closer to all restrictions being lifted.

              Hi Lincslass
you can book your 4th vaccination on the NHS site below. It will direct you to the nearest centre doing the jabs. Mainly they are local chemists. You will need a letter as detailed below to authorise your jab.

Do you know your NHS number? - Book a coronavirus vaccination - NHS

You need to bring one of these things to show that you had a severely weakened immune system when you had your 1st or 2nd dose:

              • a letter from a GP or hospital specialist asking you to get a 3rd dose for people with a severely weakened immune system
              • a letter from a GP or hospital specialist asking you to get a booster (4th dose) for people with a severely weakened immune system
A clinician at the site will check your evidence to make sure you get a suitable dose.

I had the 4th vaccination on 22 Feb. I have only ever received NHS notification about the 1st one.....3 weeks after I'd had it! I just note the due dates and booked 2nd and 3rd online, 4th was a walk in. I don't know anything about the once-mentioned 5th - and further? - doses for very vulnerable?

Numbers are shooting up again in our area. For the first time my immediate family have caught it, first my son's family, then my daughter's, going down one by one. They don't live near each other and haven't mixed, I expect it's come from the kid's schools. They have had flu like symptoms, the children have been sick. Luckily they are shaking it off after a week thanks to vaccines and boosters.

I do hope your family are OK John, and its nothing more than a severe cold.
The numbers are going up again. From around a low of 40k per day in early March to around 90k today. Can't see anything about it on the news, also a really good covid reporting site on YouTube, Dr John Cambell, has said nothing. He sends an extremely realistic report out every day but no report on this increase. Hopefully it is just a blip, fingers crossed.

There is a new variant now in the UK and other countries (Deltacron), think it was first identified in France. It is supposed to be more contagious than Omicron, but there is no evidence to suggest there will be a spike in hospitalization's.
