I have both and I don't want to pull out the Agapanthus - again!
It looks like a huge bluebell to me, but then...

Bluebell, I'd say. Agapanthus buds are not circular, but more drop shaped. And it is a bit early for them.

What have you been feeding it with @BB3? Any bluebell with ambition like that deserves to be allowed to stay :).

I take you want it to be an agapanthus, I hope it is, I am known to lose bets.

I'll leave it and see what happens.
            I certainly don't feed them @Plantminded !
I don't bother trying to dig them out. Sometimes I've gone elbow deep into a hole to get the bulb out.
I use my patented hoe and forget until next year method now. It usually works unless they lurk amongst the agapanthus

Spanish Bluebell would be my bet.

Bluebell I think as bit early for lush foliage on Ags yet.

Bluebell. If I had a penny for every one I've dug out or chopped off over the years I'd be rich!
Agapanthus have pointy buds, and unless you live somewhere very mild I wouldn't expect them to be showing any buds yet.

If they are Spanish blue bells get rid of them. They spread like wild fire and take over the border. I am still digging them up after 5 years when the previous owner planted them in the borders.

You can never get rid of them. Hoe and forget. Same with celandine if you don't like them. I'm pretty sure I'll never get rid of yellow oxalis either. Fortunately, I'm a laissez faire-type gardener. Anything, with a few obvious exceptions, can stay provided they don't take the P.

You don't need to dig them out @BB3 Once it's declared itself to be a Spanish bluebell just cut off all the leaves and flower stem so it can neither feed itself nor set seed. Eventually they'll weaken and die and your agapanthus will be safe from disturbance.
