Last Sunday's hour long, BBC, Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the Light whizzed by like 15 minutes. So good. Would love more thoughtful, introspective TV like this. Mark Rylance helps of course. Peter Kominsky gave an interview on BBC radio 4 about the series and continuing, after the author, Hilary Mantel's death. One more episode left, airing on this coming Sunday.

 

Just watched on iplayer Fungi web of life. Fascinating and very thought provoking.

Just watched the Christmas special of call the midwife and the new series starts next Sunday.

 

Dinner for One. A New Year’s Eve hit everywhere but in Blighty, it would seem…

 

Dinner for one was shown here for many years but fell out of fashion a while ago but it's still huge in many other EU countries. If you remember any of the revived music hall shows Freddie Frinton used to do a drunk act, and some say that this skit was used as an excuse for him to do an extended version of it. Not certain how true that is.

 

Probably my favourite tv programme.

 

Yesterday we watched The Woman Across the Street From the Girl in the Window starring Kristin Bell (Veronica Mars. Ten episodes so we blitzed it all! Neither of us guessed the ending!

 

I’m surprised that you know that version of Dinner for One, because I knew it from German telly, and we were told back then the no one here would know it.

 

We watch it every year as my sister lived in Germany for 57 years.
