Cherry tree placement

    Apparently, I now have a cherry tree... I confess, it was very much a case of 'oooh, look at that, and it is the last one' :biggrin: - worse still, I don't like cherries (I tolerate them only in a Black Forest ;) ). On the upside, Mrs C & Miss C both do, so we are all good there. Where is best in terms of placement for it? I have the plum tree in the corner on the sunny side of the garden, so was thinking over on the other side near the greenhouse, but not in full shade? I have another Acer that will want to be more in the shade on that same corner, but there is room.

    A cherry tree likes the sunshine and can go up to 8 x 8 meters after some time. Next to the greenhouse should be a no-go if the place is affected by wind.

    Are you sure its a fruiting cherry?
    Lots of ornamental ones that only flower.

      Cherries are the largest of the prunus genus so be aware! good fruiting ones are usually on dwarfing rootstocks but that limits their lifespan unfortunately. we have some wild ones here that are easily 20 meters

          That's a handy warning thanks, I have young self seeded (or more likely bird pooped) ones all over the place!
