    Hi everyone.

I passed on a fig tree that was given to me to someone earlier this year, they've sent me a photo asking if these are figs? I'm not sure whether they are or just leaf buds.

Well the short version, I nipped into our local community garden around 2 years ago to do a couple of repairs for them and somewhere along the line it just snowballed, I was asked if I would be the garden manager (all voluntary) I said yes and it's been a bit of a job to get it organised a bit better but I think we've turned the corner now. I'll be back regular now I've got lots I need to ask

They are called Breba figs (think it means first fruit in spanish) and it's the crop that grows on the previous years growth. There will be a better crop on the new wood that grows later in the season.

The figs that form on the new wood never ripen on my tree, they need a longer growing season, they are still on my tree from last year and rot or fall off during winter.
