@Thevictorian There is a senator calling him out for insider trading, claiming that the climb down was signalled to his sycophants so they could buy before the market went up again.

The governor of California (5th largest economy in the world) is apparently wanting to negotiate his state's own trade terms with the rest of the world and circumvent Trump's idiocies. As a state, they pay more to the federal tax fund than they receive so are effectively subsiding poorer Red states with non liberal policies.

Florida's governor is calling for school age children to be allowed to work unlimited hours and the Florida legislature is planning a law to allow them to work for less than the minimum wage. Back to the Victorian era then.

I do think it is a form of insider trading. And JD Vance’s mouth is going to get this administration into a very difficult position if he doesn’t rein it in.

He publicly announced yesterday that "this is a great time to buy. Djt" the Djt is his initials but also his company, which made his personal share rise by 415 million yesterday. His mates share of tesla rose 20 billion.
I know he wanted to reduce the value of the dollar as he said it was to high in his previous presidency but I still think he chickened out due the the response and had to act early. It shows how silly the markets are following his every whim when there could be another u turn tomorrow.

I hope Vance keeps talking, the more he talks the less likely he'll be in the big chair next.

So California is being "ripped off" by the rest of US.

Exactly - using trump's idiotic formula. It seems the NE states like NY, NJ and neighbour are also more economically viable than the rest of the red states.

So if what you are all suggesting is true, what are the chances in 90 days he will reinstate the tariffs he has taken off to crash the markets yet again and make more money.

Yep, and those that know, will buy extra stock . Yeah.

Did you know 300 cargo shipping containers are delivered to USA from China every day. Every day, containing over a trillion items. SMH.

Actually its releasing the Government control of not working, the parents now have the authority to decide what is good for their children. And less than minimum wage, what's wrong with that. And he's talking about "children" ages 16, and 17. They certainly are just building their skills. I myself worked after school for 3 hours at an accounting firm inputting numbers into a ledger at age 14 to 17, and made top 1/4 in my graduating class. And when I went to college, I worked a fulltime job, and got on the Dean's list. Nothing wrong with young adults working, better than developing an entitlement person.

My grandfather was put down a mine at 14. It certainly made a man of him. Short lived, but a man. He died of chronic bronchitis and pneumoconiosis at 29.

when more American companies develop to make things China does, we will need less and less. Some Americans still do not get how a quality produce lasts longer than a flimsy made China product.

@redstar - USA big business has, for decades now, exported jobs making those items to other countries to benefit from cheap labour and material. What China exports to you is just 3% of their total annual output.

Your big name car manufacture, IT and white goods etc now import the parts from other countries and just assemble them on US soil using poorly paid employees with no job security. All those tariffs are just going to make your purchases more expensive and probably harder to find as the tariffs bite. Note that, when calculating those tariffs he and his aides did not include the figures for services - financial, IT, films and TV - which make the USA a net beneficiary in trade balances.

Added to that the total mistrust he has created amongst former allies thus creating incentives for the rest of the world to trade with each other, respecting existing trade agreements and making new ones and leaving the USA out.

That's just abroad. What he's doing to government services such as education, health provision, social security, national parks, the military is going to create long term damage to your geography and society which will be costly to repair and undo, as is the dicrimination he's encouraging on grounds of race, religion, sexuality. Shameful.
