Look on the bright side @pete - it was only the lens rather than your eyeball which fell out
Agree tho that some specs seem to only last 5 mins - some manufacturers appear to concentrate on making the frames look posh rather than considering the practicalities.

Steroid packed beef and chlorine chicken will end up feeding the poorest, who can least afford good quality products and also least afford being exposed to even more unhealthy ones.

I have a pair of Italian designer sunglasses - bought duty free and in the sales in Livigno years ago. They have elaborate arms and narrow metal frames and the lenses pop easily, spending more time out than in. I now buy a new pair each year at the SM for about 15€ and they do me very well. I used to make them last years but Possum insists the UVA protection only lasts a year and I'm keen on keeping my eyes healthy.

I thought everyone knew salmon commonly available is farmed:scratch:
I occasionally see wild salmon in Morrisons but I'm so used to the farmed stuff I find it has a strange taste.

I can’t remember the last time I ate fish. I think my conversion was sparked while visiting a seaside resort in the 1960s and seeing, during a very early morning walk, the sewage outfall at the prom swarming with an enormous shoal of mackerel and then seeing mackerel for sale in the fishmongers.

In those days the fishmonger gutted the whole fish right in front of you. You could see what its last meal had been, if you chose to do so. I don’t recall seeing cow turds in the middle of the carrots that I bought. :rolleyespink:

I've gutted a fair amount of mackerel, did some yesterday, I cant say I've ever found anything recognisable in it stomach.
The guts are just that, although I must admit I dont do a full post mortem:biggrin:
It just goes in the bin.

Its called recycling, when you think about it everything relies on the waste of something else even if its once or twice removed down the food chain.

True. But some things just seem more repugnant than others. I mean, I’m sure slugs are a wonderful source of protein….

I do remember someone reporting on markets in China where the freshly dug carrots were still decorated with bits of toilet paper from the ‘fertiliser’
It looks like I’ll have to write to my MP with a strong complaint that we should not be importing any products, including any food stuffs, which do not comply with our safety, hygiene and welfare standards. Plus ethically produced, as in no slave or child labour involved.

Given the huge numbers of slugs in our garden at the moment, I’ve been seriously considering trying to sell ‘ready shelled’ escargot to cruise ships.

I could probably do the "shell on" variety.
