I was away for a while and most of my little peppers including the variegated one died :frown: Still got lots of seeds but might just focus on the 2nd year peppers and the remaining baby one, ive been so busy lately i should scale back a lot.

I sowed four types of chilli in snail rolls at the beginning of Feb, only four seeds of each, they have all germinated and a couple of cm’s high but no true leaves yet. They are in a heated propagator in the greenhouse, I’ve been turning the propagator off in the day and taking the lid off as in the sun it’s been getting up to 20+ degrees in there but still very cold at night. I’m holding off potting them up but think I’m waiting too long, or will they catch up once it gets warmer and lighter for longer next month?

        Sorry to hear that.

We have been very remiss this year and not looked after our new seedlings (been extremely busy) but shall try and help them recover. Some of last year's plants are still producing - but only just.

Starting to look a bit better, some of the plugs I got are looking a bit deformed, they should recover

Physalis Alkakengi growing in a terrifying way. Never seen any other plant grow its first stems straight back down into the soil...
In a pot, not the soil, for sure...

Whoo hoo, my Bolivian rainbow chillies have deigned to germinate. Well behind the Basket of fire sown the same day (27/2).
One lone scotch bonnet from seed saved from last year's crop has appeared, plus most of the 'pointy pepper' seeds sown from this year's supermarket specimen.
None ready for potting on yet, so they will be cossetted in the lap of luxury.
No joy again with Marconi. I shall give up with these.

They've been enjoying the sunshine, I've been taking them outside from lunchtime each day if possible. Need to repot a few now

I went to a few garden centers this weekend to stock up on my chilies
There are way less varieties available than there were last year.

                    Anyone else find this ??

Yes I checked a couple and b&q and there was nothing interesting. Last year even b&q had some interesting ones, but I didn't buy them until May I think. So hopefully most have not been released yet. Despite having 24 I think I'll get some more, enough so that I won't need to grow any next year!

I sowed a few seeds of 6 different varieties of chillies this year and they have all been potted on into individual small pots. Some are in the conservatory and some are on the window sill indoors. They all look healthy but have been very slow growing. I am not in a hurry to pot them on yet. I learnt a long time ago to be patient, the weather has fluctuated between cold nights and very hot days which I assume is the probelm. Nothing I can do about the weather.
A couple of my sowings didn't germinate, it was old seed so I have written them off.
                        Must water them today

I'm only growing sweet peppers this year, as we still have lots of dried chillies from last year and don't use them that much. The sweet peppers are just getting flower buds forming.

Biggest one, aji roja, is two foot. Most in 1l yoghurt pots now. I'd like to take them down to the allotment but I think overnights are forecast a bit too low still
