If people want to pee in their own garden that's their own business - just maybe not in the front if it's open to the street! If neighbours are nebbing at what you do in your back garden, they can't really complain about what they see. I get that sometimes people need to relieve themselves outdoors but they could find somewhere reasonably discreet, not right in front of someone's house or where children play. Lorry drivers etc should really have breaks at suitable locations but I don't suppose it works like that.

As a lorry driver it can be hard to find a place to go, must delivery place's won't let you use the toilet and some place's your are not even aloud to get out of your lorry!!, but saying that some lorry drivers have bad habbits so it can be catch 22 ;)

When we used to do all day walks in the hills, I would wear a kilt. Very discreet if I needed to ‘sit’ in the bracken. Found kilts actually more comfortable than shorts, airy round the nether regions, and didn’t let the rain through if the weather turned nasty.
I do find incontinence pads very useful for travelling, and very effective on the rare occasions when ‘latchkey’ syndrome gets the better of me!

          Two faced weekend environmentalists.

I've got neighbour's who act all smug because they use an electric mower and strimmer. Battery operated. Our suburban lots are so small, it would be easy to use a corded mower instead of those big dirty mined lithium batteries. Then when it gets over 72f 20c, they have their air conditioners going and sit inside. :rolleyespink:

I remember doing that as a small child (sitting on an adult's lap in a car, not driving!) but that was in the late 1960s or early 1970s and the rules were more lax then. I don't think cars even had to have seat belts for all seats and you didn't have to use them if they were there. Horrifying by today's standards (same as not putting sunscreen on children - unthinkable now, but normal then).

@JennyJB I didn't learn to drive till 1983 when we moved to Harrow and no bus or tube to get to work. Seat belts were compulsory in all new cars but it wasn't yet compulsory to wear them.

In Belgium the law says all drivers and passengers must wear seat belts, no child under 12 in the front of teh car and booster seats for toddlers who've out grown their baby car seats and are under a certain height. Can't tell you how many cars I used to see on the school run with 4 or 5 kids in the back and none belted. Unbelievable.

Not just lorry/deliver drivers who get caught out tho. Our plumber who had been extremely busy all day but was calling in on his way home for a minor adjustment to CH. We know him well enough that he felt able to rush in heading straight for the WC whilst saying " Got to have a wee Philippa ".
As for FB - it also aptly described a previous very abusive and nasty NDN who was not exactly slim - Fat or F***ing B*****d. Both excellent descriptions

The rules are similar here (there are a few exceptions relating to taxis, minibuses, emergency journeys and so on). I don't recall seeing anyone driving with unrestrained children in the car, but then I don't really look so I'd probably only notice if they were hanging out of the window or something.

I still dont wear a seat belt half the time, never have got used to them, they seem to be on some kind of rachet that just tightens up all the time and you have to keep dragging out a bit more to stop it.
Also if you lean forward quickly to get out of a junction they just grab you.

All these years and they are yet to come up with any improvements as to how they operate, I notice on Face book there is a company selling extension pieces that fit into the bit at the bottom so that you dont have to be a contortionist to get the buckle in there.

Years ago I had a Cortina and the thing the buckle went into was fixed to the seat, so if you moved the seat forward or back it moved with you, now they seem to be fixed to the floor which means if you move the seat the thing stays where it is.

Technology regarding seat belts seems to have gone backwards.

There seem to be new rules about dogs travelling in cars, needing to be restrained.
I remember when a similar law came in, in Spain, and I read an English translation of the rules, one of which seemed to say that dogs were not allowed to look out of the car windows! I’m sure it actually meant that they were not allowed to hang out of an open window, but I had a picture in my head of dogs wearing blindfolds or blinkers, and getting frustrated at not knowing whether they were heading to the park or the vets!
