Might you try in containers of soil from home/elsewhere, with own-seeded plants. I know it is a persistent fungus but believe it is only transmissible by direct contact to soil, tools, hands etc. Worth a go ?

@infradig yes I have tried various things such a watering on garlic solution 2-3 weeks before planting. Said that spores germinate then die with nothing to feed on. I've also tried a raised bed with imported soil, still came back though not on whole crop. Tbh, it's probably heresy on this thread but I find they are one of the few things that are not that superior from the plots as opposed to buying them in the supermarket.

With the really lovely spring and pretty good summer so far….. my veg is about a month early. I have just harvested my garlic ( very good) will be harvesting the elephant garlic maybe in a week and my ordinary onions are looking good too but not ready yet. I grow spring onions in the greenhouse and have been pulling them for about 2 weeks, again very early. I am going to run out of these and only have some White Lisbon winter hardy variety seeds in my seed box. Is it ok to sow these now or would I be better to buy other?

I could never believe there was any real difference between the winter hardy variety and the ordinary one.

I never had much luck with second sowing of white Lisbon, but I think it was mainly down to them getting dry in the early stages, unlike the early spring sowing.

                  Thanks
Thanks I did wonder if it was a bit of a marketing gimmick a la “ Tree Lilies” Tree lilies my backside! Most of my lilies take on tree proportions if we have a wet summer, but full marks to the marketing guys, sounds so much more exciting than very tall:).
I will sow the seeds today and hopefully I will get something of edible size before Christmas.
You will note @JWK I have not mentioned the Kelsey onions;) To my beginner eye they look pretty good. I will post a photo of the final results as long as you promise not to laugh!

My onions are doing well but just noticed one or two have the eaten leaf tips and what looks like catapillar poo inside the hollow leaves.
Happens every year to some extent, never yet found the grub that causes the damage.

Last Autumn I planted Onion sets outside in pots. Stuttgarter Giant.
                        We have had mixed results.
                        Two of them 'bolted'
I put this flowerhead in a small vase. Mrs C not impressed.

My Red Barons are still growing, but the Shallots are lifted and the greenhouse now maturing.

This year presumably because we in Scotland have had a fantastic spring and so far fairly good summer I have a bonanza crop of onions.
This below is about 1/3 of the crop ( Sturon). These were lifted yesterday as their tops had bent over. The rest are still in situ but will be going over in the next few days. We are due heavy rain tomorrow and not great on Sunday/ Monday either would I be better to lift the rest today while it is dry or just wait until things dry up after the weekend?
I have no idea where on earth I am going to hang all the onions to cure. I am not sure how many there are but know there are A LOT:). I might be reduced to chopping some up and freezing. It’s that or have them decorating the house like paper chains. Note to self to not buy quite so many onion sets next year!
