They miss out a favourite of mine the Australian scientist who discovered the cause of many stomach ulcers the bacteria Helicobacter pylori. To prove this he swigged a culture of this bacterium; the upshot was he rapidly developed stomach ulcers and his wife threatened to divorce him if he 1) didn't get it treated pdq and 2)did anything like that again. Fortunately for his marriage they already had a suitable antibiotic available.

Another scientist who deserves a mention and not in a good way, is Thomas Midgely.
First he developed the antiknock compound tetraethyl lead which was very toxic and also when used spread lead around the environment leading to increased lead levels in several generations, this affected the CNS and behaviour especially in big cities.
Then he developed chlorofluorocarbons (Freons) that led to the hole in the ozone layer.
Finally fate intervened; he developed polio, was left disabled so he developed a system of ropes and pulleys to help him out of bed and managed to strangle himself.

Looking for a birthday present for The Child. I'm not quite sure what to think about these results when Googling "Vintage gardening"... :heehee:

I was at, just visiting, the Butantan Institute in Brazil over forty years ago and it was a fascinating place. It opened about 120 years ago and is/was the foremost research centre in the world producing anti-venom mainly for snake bite. We got to see hundreds, possibly thousands, that got milked for their venom. :hate-shocked:

I do have photos but somewhere amongst the thousands of prints I have stored away - not filed and very rarely looked at!

What's so worrying about this is what it says about his mental state, his grasp of what is appropriate, his understanding of the standing of religion for many, and his lack of respect for other institutions and their officials.

There’s a chap called Bill Collet in Queensland who does You Tube videos of his work handling venomous snakes for the purposes of milking their venom. Rather him than me.

My cousins husband used to collect funnel Web spiders from their swimming pool in the mornings in Australia.
Their pool was at or near the base of a cliff apparently and somehow the spiders came off the cliff overnight.
I was told they used them to produce anti venom at the hospital..

Well at least Biden didn’t get dressed up as Buddha. At least not in public.

Here’s a rather long, but quite interesting, study of the state of Trump’s brain and how it is being exploited.

You are quite right he wasn't, but neither is Trump which is also cheerfully being covered up as were Biden's issues.
