I had that last night. An extremely good ribeye steak from Aldi. They are used to me sorting through the shelf of steaks for the ones I want. :heehee:

Pan fried it in butter, served with chips and sliced brussels stir fried in a wok where I first caramelised thinly sliced red onion before tossing in the brussels which sweetens the whole thing.

I added a small chilli that had been sliced and chopped first. The chilli gets added to the onion whilst it is cooking as frying chillies on their own in oil can send out nasty fumes.

Last night I thought I'd make kedgeree again, but I could not get smoked haddock from ASDA. So I bought smoked basa. I thought it was just another fish that floats around with cod and haddock. No, it's a catfish, a freshwater fish from the Mekong river in Vietnam. And possibly full of pollutants. It did taste a bit strange at times, but cooked well from frozen, although it gave off more water than frozen haddock. No I would not buy it again and I've gone off kedgeree forever!

I've never bought Basa, I didn't even know they smoked it.
I did buy Tilapai fillets, not smoked but they are quite nice.

            I'm strictly Golden Virginia myself!!
A bit of a cheat this but we went to Panella for lunch today. I had gnocchi (with Italian sausage and wild mushrooms) in a gorgonzola sauce, finished off under the grill - amazing! Washed down with the best coffee we've found in London and a fresh cannoli.

Weather is so good had first BBQ of the year, chicken legs, pork belly strips and also made 3x â…“pound burgers from some butchers mince. So much better than those pre made pucks of rubbish that are sold as burgers in supermarkets

Smoke was provided by an auchentoshan whisky barrel staves

I just love when supermarkets do the 15p veg thing for Christmas and Easter. I went wild and got 2kg carrots, 3kg tatties, 1kg parsnips, a cabbage, a swede, two broccolis and some leeks. :) It's just two of us eating but hey ho!

Roasting in oven and then freezing to be heated in airfryer works very well for the rooties. Broccoli turned into broccoli- cheese soup (very nice), some of the tatties will turn into a mash tonight with leftovers for a flatbread.

Since the oven will be on, leeks will probably get gratinated, seriously nice with gammon and freezes well.

50% of our household love lamb and 50% think it's just like sucking stinky candles. The Child prepared her half-a leg well, rubbed with smoked paprika, coriander seeds, herbs and garlic and apparently it was very good. "Serves four" is just a guidance they print on the label.

I had proper pea soup my soul requires every once in a while. Perhaps a bit less traditional Easter feast, but both are happy, at least until the pea soup consequences kick in :)

Went to the wednesday market in basingstoke and the chap trying to flog raspberries before they closed sold me 2.5kg for a fiver.
Turned most of into jam - but whenever I make jam the sugary fumes turn me into a jam hater. Luckily it doesnt last as long as the jam does. Ended with 12 jars.

Any recipes that could use a good chunk of it? I suppose I can use it in cakes instead of sugar.

Ice cream? 1lb raspberries, 8oz sugar simmer together adjust sugar if needed, sieve the mix to remove pips. Allow to cool, then chill in fridge when cold blend in 1 pt double cream. Put in a container, then in freezer, after two to three hours in the freezer give it a good mix with a fork and return to freezer until solid.
                      Sorbet?

Eton Mess of fresh raspberries, home made meringue and Cornish Clotted Cream. Simples.
Raspberries freezer really well for future use, in fresh fruit salad or muffins instead of blueberries.

I always freeze my raspberries and use a few at a time on my breakfast.

I thought you had turned the raspberries into jam and wanted to know what to do with the jam? Jam on buttered toast. It will keep for years though.
