Same for me. However, with it comes a problem, where did I leave it. So I then need to go and get my Mrs mobile and follow the ring tone.

Both here in multitudes, but the seagulls stay at roof level which is more inches away from my slumbering (I wish) body.

@shiney, you may not be able to put the genie back in the bottle, but you could punch some holes in the bottom so excess dribbles away. Think of every spam email ever sent ... and then think of paying in CO2 emissions to save these for eternity. Utterly bonkers!

Just been round the garden centre looking for a half decent pot at a half decent price for one of my strelizias.

Why, oh why are they still turning out pots that are narrower at the top than they are in the middle, it just makes potting on Impossible after a year or so without breaking the pot.
It's either that or big lip running round the inside of the pot at the top.

The other type I kept coming across was really wide at the top and very narrow at the bottom, so basically unstable once planted up with anything with any height.

And what makes me look like I always work in these places, someone asked me when the rose sale was starting, in the past I've been asked to put bags of compost in people's cars.

Yes, sensible plant pots are a rarity. And I found out too late that these resin ones that look like metal just fall apart after a few years. As an aside, if you are thinking of buying anything from a company called Wayfair, I would think very carefully before you embark. We have just been given the complete runaround from them with an order we placed. Every excuse in the book for neither delivering the items nor giving us a refund (they took the money on receipt of the order then left us hanging in mid air). Only after we mentioned the press and/or our MP did they cough up the items.

Heavens, no! I'm sure there is a Human Right about being free to clutter up the inboxes of multiple strangers simultaneously. ;) I'm just suggesting these might be deleted from storage at some point.

Agree about pots, @pete. Those inner lip ones are particularly irritating.

Well, I don't worry about finding serviceable pots. They don't have any of those fancy pottery ones at poundland/dollarama for us peasants to buy!

One of our equivalents is Home Bargains, @CanadianLori. Their pots are incredibly cheap, but I'm guessing longevity is not built into the equation.

I fully agree with the shape of pots. Obviously someone who doesn't know anything about pot gardening designed them. :rolleyespink: I am fortunate I have many pottery places to visit.

I wish manufacturers of decorative pots would provide an inner plastic pot that is designed to fit. I don't always plant directly in decorative pots. I have masses of plastic pots that just don't fit.

Still haven't come across a Home Bargains shop yet.

@Victoria you have lots of lovely pots and planters. There are no decent pottery places around here. And as for house plant pots the ones for sale around here are pretty grim.

Spotted this dwarf form of Aesculus in the park a while ago and been waiting for the flowers to come out. 20250525_094452.jpg

Passed by that way again this morning and look what the local morons have done. 20250530_095717.jpg 20250530_095746.jpg

They have purposely snapped every main stem,it looks like a slow grower so doubt the damage will grow out fast if at all.

Actually some of my cheapie pots are over 10 years old. I have gotten rid of some in a lot fewer years but it was simply because I got tired of the colour!

The thing I like about them beside the price, is that they are a lot lighter to pick up than the big pottery ones.
