    @OwdPotter
Hello ! long time no see, and thanks for the mention. I do look in here sometimes but I've been away, just got back from a trip to Cornwall.
Your roses are looking fab, I do remember when you planted that 'Blush Noisette' in the corner there.
I only have about 20 roses now, down from about 100..

I'm very impressed with how quickly your roses have established and trained. I do hope you still have 'The Generous Gardener' and that it gives a good show this summer..
    I shall keep in touch.

        Hello @lizzie27,
        Thanks.
GdF. Well yes the top of my pergola is 2.50m so probably around 3.0m tall now.
The height isn’t an issue for me, indeed I want that to form a canopy, but It’s also an extremely vigorous and robust rose, putting out numerous strong laterals in all directions. It has very dense growth. It wants to be as wide as it is tall. So restraining it to maintain access I find is a task.
The laterals are also the thickness of a pencil and not very flexible, so can be a bit tricky to train. I tend to train them by pulling them back to the structure progressively, but the side screen of my trellis is now full and so I’m going to be cutting any new lower growth back now.
Having said all that, I think it a brilliant rose. I think it would be great for a large obelisk, or indeed to allow to romp through your cherry trees once you can get it there.
Mine also is covered in buds (and greenfly) but yet to flower. It’s been the end of May normally but of course it’s been unusually warm this year.

          Hello @Mrs Hillard
          Great to see you again.
Good that you still have a fair collection of roses, what would you do without them?
I’m still working to get my Blush Noisette to fill out the corner but it’s getting there and seems to be happy enough in it’s box.
Generous gardener was the first rose I planted, It’s still here and thriving. I’ll be doing an update on that later.
Yes, please do stay in touch

*I think GG was probably in bloom yesterday as that looks a day 2 fully open bloom, but I was too lazy to get up on top of the pergola…

Thanks for your response @OwdPotter. I did know Gdf was a vigorous rose before I bought it (was it your recommendation or Tack's?) so you can't say I wasn't warned! Hopefully I can keep it under some semblance of control. I do enjoy the pruning and training of roses but hope I don't have to get up a stepladder too often.

Great to 'see' you again @Mrs Hillard, I've wondered how you and your roses were getting along. Do please drop in now and again.

                  It can stay I think

                            Thanks @Mrs Hillard
That’s quite a compliment coming from you.
It’s just short of 5 years since I was hacking back the footing of the top pergola to be able to get my Generous Gardener planted close enough to give me a chance of training it.
                            On your advice, of course…

Not in this garden @Mrs Hillard.
I might want them but I’m out of space, and there’s a possibility I may be moving soon.
