    Unfortunately thats not an option, the sale has been rather difficult and it's about to complete, she just wants the sale finished. I would have suggested cuttings, but mum didnt mention about the rose until now and I think in her mind shes decided not to re visit the house. Hope that makes sense

    I've just heard from mum. The rose was bought by my grandad about 25 years ago so def not a modern rose. The picture is a tad misleading, it isn't dark in thr middle thats just shadow from the petals. Sorry.

    @Magical Meeekat
    Trying to identify a rose from a single bloom in a vase is on a hiding to nothing really, what's usually needed are full bush shots of the rose in the garden with leaves, so we can see the size and shape etc.. but we can sometimes whittle it down to 3 criteria.. location, availability at the time, and popularity. A rose that looks like yours was released about 20 years ago by Fryer Roses called 'Lucky'.. I have already shown it twice on this thread but here are photos I took today..

    If you don't think it's this rose then you would need to supply more photos. Otherwise, it's readily available from many rose vendors..

    best wishes to your Mum..

      Thank you. Yes i know it's a bit of a long shot. Not sure mum realises how hard it would be and how many different roses there are. Eek. That looks like the best fit so far. I've searched lots online.
      Would you say the scent is like Turkish delight?

        Great to see all the rose pictures coming in now. I love rose season! One of my loveliest roses is a (neglected) climber that was already in the garden when I moved in 19 years ago - simply known as “unknown red.” I’ve looked at details of many red climbing roses online but nothing quite matches it. Would be great to put a name to this beautiful scented rose

            We went to Kew on Saturday. The arches of climbing/rambling roses were wonderful and gave a great chance to see the difference in growth and flowering. Rambling Rector was trying to take over the world! I particularly liked Generous Gardener as it was well perfumed but there were a couple with definitely "weird" scent. I didn't take photos - probably because of heat stroke - it was hot!

              I purchased this rose, Gletsher, this year from Rozenlottum on a whim as I was intrigued by the colour in the online image. So I added it to my basket.

              However in reality it is not a white/grey but a deeper mauve than I had hoped so quite similar to other roses I have. Still nice, just not what I had wanted. The joys of online shopping and impulse buying.

                @Emptyheadtime that's annoying! I want that moody colour too (like the old Le Grice roses). I wonder if it would be paler in a different site? Or different soil?

                  Maybe, it’s in a pot that gets pretty much full sun. Might stick it in a shadier spot and see what happens.

                    My first Koko Loko opened while I was away this weekend. I love the colour, but the perfume was minimal and it already has a little bit of black spot. Twice in a Blue Moon, bought at the same time over last winter, seems more robust, and had a perfume that lasted well even until the petals were falling.

                      @CatDouch, I agree with you about 'You're Beautiful'. I have had mine for many years and it never ceases to put on a magnificent show. It is very special to me, as it was in fact, the first rose I planted in my garden.:)
