To be fair, Churchill was reportedly on a fair amount of medication - uppers, downers, and that's before you factor in his alcohol consumption. And our current speaker, Hoyle, has wasted a great deal on private flights hither and thither, with no discernible benefit to the tax payers footing the bill. And the Lords have just agreed themselves a rate increase, poor over-worked public servants that they are. Re Melania, my guess is she didn't want the first term, and she certainly doesn't want the second. If she chooses to get on with her own life, why not? She didn't apply for the job.
Not many people passed the age of 70 are not on medication these days, the drug companies make sure of that, I have my share, but I can stay awake when talking to people. God knows what they were feeding Biden, and why.
I'd be on as much medication as they could give me if I was in that job, what wholly sane person would want it?!
Your task is to look back in history and calculate how often other First Ladies made appearances. Then you can ask that interesting question. The last Jill did not count, she was guiding a demented fool.
He is doing an awesome job. So, again if you like looking at fake media information keep on doing that.
Michelle was fairly visible (in news reports here at least) and Nancy was, of course, holding up Ronald at dinners and events, much like Jill. The Bush wives were largely behind the scenes as far as British interest was concerned. Hillary was front and centre though, and that did not necessarily work in her favour, career-wise. I have no problem with Presidents playing golf. They should have down time. There are countless others to hold the fort and in these days of mobile comms, they can easily make contact if needed.
Plenty of First Ladies have shown their faces. The Civil Rights Act - Lady Bird Johnson met an angry crowd when she spoke about that. The New Deal - Eleanor Roosevelt got this going when her husband was incapacitated. The Civil Rights Amendment - Betty Ford. “Let’s Move!” - Michelle Obama. “Ready to Read, ready to Learn” - Laura Bush. All of these projects, taken on whilst they were the wives of presidents of the USA, are curiously all aimed at the poor, the disenfranchised, the very people that DEI is now not allowed to be interested in. First Ladies of the United States Enough already!
I don't suppose Trump actually plays golf when he goes to Mar a Largo. He simply tells everybody what his score is going to be that day, and that's what is announced.
Please let's not spiral back into this fiasco. I know it's hard but try not airing opinions on Trump, it's exhausting.
Au contraire! It's fascinating how the world's most diverse nation of, essentially, immigrants who left their homelands to find a better life has turned into a nation of racist, bigotted, misogynist, poorly educated bullies cleaving to outdated forms of what they call evangelical Christianity to justify their greed and tyranny. Harvard university is still standing firm and is now offering free online classes in the US constitution so people can see that what is going on is illegal. I think they need to start one in basic economics too for all those saps that thought the tariffs being imposed on trade would be paid by the country affected and not impact prices at home. The list of stores, businesses and farms closing down is growing by the day thus causing job losses and homelessness and that's without the areas affected by tornadoes, storms and floods and getting not one red cent in government aid.
As I said before, someone needs to start a new “Oh FFS” thread and let’s call Victor Meldrew back into this room.
I'm sure like me that as a young person you were often told that "if you want something doing then do it yourself."
