Ah, but you could end up getting sunny spells with patches of rain, @Tidemark, which sounds more hopeful somehow. :blue thumb:

I must be married to the most unobservant man in the whole world. Have a list, but todays treat was , he reaches into the fridge and takes out a Alum Foil wrapped object, opens it up and in it is cooked chicken meat. He says to me, what did you wrap up in here. I said back, nope, I don't ever wrap up food like that in Alum Foil, you did that. In 37 years of marriage he cannot once say I wrapped up any food in Alum Foil. He wraps like his mother did. Never forget looking in her freezer once and seeing meat wrapped in Foil, there was a tear spot, and you could see raw meat poking through getting freezer burned. SMH. Just needed to share. back to the garden.

OK so we have managed to get rid of the Chagos islands, much to the dislike of the people who used to live there before we threw them out.
Gonna cost us a few billion over the next few years but we are rolling in it according to reeves.

Now we have nearly managed to get rid of Gibraltar to Spain and the EU in all but name.

All I can say is look out N. Ireland.

Perhaps we could give it to the US, I'm sure the natives would appreciate the attention of the National Guard.

Solar panel salespersons have been doing the rounds. There seems to be a new "scheme" going. As I understand it, they put the solar panels on, the homeowner pays nothing and carries on paying for their electricity as normal, and the solar panel company siphons this back from the electricity company. So, it seems to me I would be lending my roof rent-free for them to install their equipment, and any benefit in electricity produced by the panels would go to them. Another example of the trend towards a rentier economy? I'm not completely sure as it all sounded terribly complicated, but it would not surprise me. Anything where they claim to be giving you something for free (in this case, solar panels) needs the small print examined with an electron microscope.

I had someone round one evening a few years ago, basically he just said you dont use enough electricity to make it worth your while, more likely I'm too old to get my money back, I dont think I've got another 30yrs left in me.

                    I wouldn't touch that scheme with a bargepole - it's a complete rip off.
