I have ben growing cucumber successfully for the last two years. This year I have problems, plants aren't as healthy this year. New cucumbers are turning yellow, leaves have strange white patterns on them. I have had a few cucumbers but things are not like last year and they were growing in abundance. I have my suspicions it's may be poor compost?

It could be the compost, but growth doesn't look to be really poor, the leaf markings look like scorch to me.
Is it an all female variety.

Yes, it's a Pepinex F1 female variety. What causes the young cucumbers to go yellow?

Difficult to say but the early ones often do if the plants are growing fast and still getting the roots established.
    Assume they are in pots?
Possibly a bit dry during hot weather?
Do they go limp when it's hot?

I'd persevere with them, if the pots are full of roots a good balanced liquid feed might help.

I planted my cucumber (Mini Munch F1- all female) in its 22L pot only 2 weeks ago - it was about 10".
The lower leaves on mine have identical marks on them as yours has and it happens every year.
I suspect snails, but not sure.
It's now reached about 4ft and I've picked 6 cucumbers so far.

I also get a few fruits that don't develop, turn yellow and shrivel.
This also happens to some extent every year.
I'm not sure, but I've a feeling it happens when we get a very hot spell - and we've certainly had that here. It's only ever a few so doesn't impact the overall yield.

As for compost - I use a mix of rotted manure, my home-made compost, some all-purpose compost, some JI no.3 and perlite.
I feed weekly with either Phostrogen or MiracleGro - these are a slightly better match for cucumbers than tomato feed.

Not in this case perhaps but you do lose fruits if the plant is already carrying a few, its the old thing about the more you pick the more you get.

My cucumbers were a bit slow and sickly looking for a few weeks despite the great weather which the tomatoes thrived in. However, they have now perked up. I too, often have a few “ dud” cucumber to begin with but be patient and sure things will improve. I picked my first cucumber a couple of days ago.
