Are you sure it is from YOUR electrical supplier? We had a similar letter when living on the West Coast of Scotland. Phoned up our supplier and it was a scam. If fitted it would have changed my supplier without my knowledge.

The older I am getting the less quick I am to disguise my rolling eyes. Few days ago, sitting at the car show, met up with a women my age, had seen her before few years back , she brings her car to show also. So we are talking, she tells me she's on a dairy free diet. I say, ok, then lactose free, she says yep. Then she goes on to say she has to make sure any pasta she eats does not have eggs in it because she is dairy free. I look at her, and say, eggs are not dairy my dear. I quickly look away, but my eyes roll, can't stop them.

Last week I am in the grocery store shopping, bump into a neighbor, she was holding some already made up meat paddies, with spices in them. I said to her, had you had them before, she said NO, I said, wonder how much salt they put in them. She says, well I don't know, but if I cook it long enough the salt will evaporate. I said, dear, salt does not evaporate. Again, look away quickly, don't roll those eyes.

Don't people realise that if you have a smart meter you will save loads of electricity or at least that's what the ad's say.
I don't understand why you will switch things off just because you've changed your meter

You will switch things off because you can see the pennies toting up every time you look at the display.
The idea is to worry you into switching off.
            Works for some people.

We rented a house once that had one of those displays and the numbers were going like a slot machine! I turned the display off and felt instantly calmer :)

It's not difficult to know how much electricity you are using and whether you are using more than necessary.

It probably stems from childhood when we were 'taught' never to leave a light switched on if we were the last person leaving a room. Similarly with other electrical equipment. I do know I can do more if I switched things off at the wall instead of just turning them off but I also need to take into account the bending down, sometimes in awkward places, to do so. Actually not so much the bending down as trying to get up again! :old:

I need to save my energy for not making a 'dead hedge' :heehee:

If we weren't able to have green waste taken away or have bonfires then the lovely wildlife habitat that our garden provides, and the pleasure derived from a very busy garden, would have to be virtually destroyed.

We already have five compost heaps approx. five foot square and anything up to 7ft high (they tend to rot down quite quickly), need to have regular very large bonfires, and have between three and five green waste wheelie bins per week taken away free of charge by the council :fingers crossed:.

Without that we would need to cut down and have taken away at least 70 trees and dozens of shrubs. Quite a few of the trees are between 30ft and 70ft high - almost all planted by us. We have, just this week, needed to cut back some Euonymous that were up to ten ft high and covering a five ft diameter. This gets done every few years. Every four or five years we have about 20ft taken off, all round, from our large willow and the local authority Arboricultural Officer approved of this so that it can extend the life of the tree. The tree cost 1/6d in the WI in 1953. :heehee:

It's just habit for me to turn things off,up until a few years ago I was even unplugging my router every night.

Mostly because it got warm and seemed like a fire hazard.

We have led light bulbs now but I still hate to see one on in a room I'm not in.

As has been said by @shiney the biggest problem is getting down to, and back up from, the socket to switch things off a the mains. I'd rather pay a few extra quick in 'leccy bill than hundreds to have an osteopath get me back fully upright.

We don't turn lights on unless it is really necessary. We go around in the dark ... think it is a hot country thing :rolleyespink: I am in the lounge with no lights on. The kitchen is flooded with sunlight. We do have motion sensor lights in the kitchen. TV stays plugged in permanently as do kitchen app;lances. I think it is a British thing unplugging everything in sight,

I thought you were supposed to keep routers on all the time as it can take up to 48 hrs for them to get back to warp speed when switched on again after a break!

I still use the old light bulbs, mostly because when these were being discontinued, my mother (in her 80s) stockpiled a lifetime's supply (she was clearly expecting to reach at least 120!) as she got migraines from the first-generation LED ones. I like the old ones as current bulbs are too bright and I have to cover them with something to manage. All the lamps now sold with built-in bulbs are useless to me, and when I had new lights during a kitchen refit last yr, I had to wear sunglasses to be in the room until I could get them taken out again by the electrician.

                          Don't we all?

When I get accosted, in a respectful way, by people selling religion they usually ask me my thoughts on the afterlife and I say I don't have any thoughts on it because I don't expect to die. I then tell them that I'm already 120.

They don't bother me again as they know that I'm a nutter! :roflol:

My thoughts on the afterlife are "thank god there isn't one"! Honestly, the idea of some sort of eternity packed with everyone who has ever lived is just beyond bearable! Unless I can have my own little private cloud to relax on peacefully, I'm not playing!

It'd be good to have the dogs and cats around and one or two good friends @ViewAhead but I agree, the idea of being surrounded by all those inescapable billions of souls is horrifying.
