I see that you have to pay for special plants. Nothing new there…

I'm a software engineer, or as we used to call it, computer programmer. I work from home half the week; more if the office environment is particularly annoying. The office is a huge open plan affair with loads of people milling around and chatting, their phone alerts constantly going off, etc. At home I can concentrate and get stuff done, and when I need to take a screen break I can step out into the garden and pull up a few weeds. Collaboration software such as Teams makes it easy to keep in touch with the rest of the team.

But I think the younger staff suffer from lack of guidance and mentoring if we all stay home too much.

What about the above image brings the words “small, joyful indulgence” to mind? And what ingredient could be “an antidote to life’s uncertainties”? Strewth!

White bread, a strawberry, and a slop of cream cheese? Works for me. I feel much better about the state of the planet now.:roflol:

You must be “a food trend watcher” then. Pray, tell us how you spend your time, how you earn a crust, as it were…

I used to eat cheese and jam sandwiches when I was a kid. No different from cheese and chutney really. Banana sandwiches with sugar too.

But did they help you with life’s uncertainties? Or maybe add to them? What type of cheese? What type of chutney? Choices, choices…

What's the betting those 3 slithers of strawberry are the sum total of the sandwich's fruit content. M&S has form when it comes to arranging filling to look generous but which does not reach across the whole surface. :th scifD36:

My Mum used to eat cheese and jam 'widges - or 'sandos' as they appear to be called nowadays. Must be a 'food-trend watcher' thing.
Some people can have nothing better to do than to while away their time oggling what others eat, then pass comment on it. Saddos, not 'sandos'
Although I bet they get paid to do it.

I'd rather just have the strawberries!

We used to have "bread and sticky milk" as children - bread (usually white) with tinned condensed milk spread on it. Actually I quite fancy that with strawberries on it.

Apparently Wes Streeting's latest rush of blood to the head is to consider compelling supermarkets to "nudge" customers towards making healthier choices by gathering data on all their purchases and then sending alerts as they walk round the aisles! Sheesh! :wallbanging:

As I refuse to use apps or loyalty cards, don't have a smart phone, and always pay cash, I will hopefully be exempt from such nonsense.

If you want people to eat healthily, sort out the food processing/manufacturing industry.
