Stupid me I have just watched an advert on TV for Strawberries from Rosedene Farm. Used search engine to find where the farm was in the U.K. It does not exist it is just a marketing ploy by Supermarkets that put the word Farm on their fruit products to make people like me think they are buying the goods locally. In fact they are not U.K. bought. It is called Farmwashing.

According to the weather people they said your garden was the hottest in the country. :rolleyespink:

Alright, I stretched their info just a little bit as they didn't pinpoint your house specifically but mention your address. :noidea:

I don't think anyone can be as "warm" as me.

I was really struggling on Friday - got the thermo out and my temp was 39.5c! :phew:

To cut a long story short I've got chickenpox!!!

I'm now covered from head to toe in spots and blisters (about 500), which look quite frightening and disgusting. Not really itchy, but the fever symptoms are awful. Couldn't sleep last night as my heart was racing and skipping beats. I don't fancy food, which tastes funny - that reminds me of covid.

I have no idea where I got this from, but it finally got me at the age of 67. I did ask some months ago about vaccination and the price was £150 for two shots. Never got round to it.

So I'm confined to the house and garden - we'll I could go off in the car. But I'm just feeling too lousy to bother. Our weather is back to about 21c and that is such a relief.

I haven't watched the news at all, but I keep having delirious dreams about Trump going on about roundabouts, with music by Faithless blaring out. Most bizarre.

Time for a wander around the garden, without being cooked.

My mum is a similar age and had chicken pox for the first time a couple of years ago. She was really itchy for a couple of weeks and said it wasn't much fun, so hope you feel better soon.

Thank you. Fortunately I was already on antihistamines for a cough and these have really helped.

I'm only a couple of years younger than you @cactus_girl and can clearly remember going to 'chickenpox parties' when I was a nipper. From what I can gather it was the 'thing' to do at the time. I caught it when I was about 5 or 6.

I've recently had the Shingles jab though which is caused by the same virus.

They used to have those back in my day. My sister had the pox and my parents made me finish a sweet that my sister had been eating. Still didn't get it. :phew:

The most common childhood diseases back in those days were chicken pox, measles, scarlet fever and whooping cough but, luckily, never had any of them. :fingers crossed:

@cactus_girl I wish you better :grphg:

Yes in adults primary chicken pox is a nasty illness @cactus_girl . You should bathe or sponge with TEPID not cold water to get your temperature down.
                        Hope you are better soon.

Hope you feel better soon @cactus_girl, try to get hold of good old fashioned calamine lotion for the spots - only thing that worked for me when I had chicken pox as an adult.

I remember chicken pox as the time Wimbledon was on the TV.
Me and my sister had it the same time and with nothing to do in summer watching Wimbledon was the only thing to pass the time.

Or was that measles, I forget, had both along with whooping cough and german measles and Mumps.
There was definitely the attitude of let's catch all these and get them over with.
