Burger joints are like Pot Noodles you have a 10 year gap and think they can not be as bad as you remember them to be. Then you have one and they are.
BTW, ran across an awesome grilling hamburger mix, have your butcher grind /minced up brisket and chuck roast together, makes the best hamburgers for the grill, the fatty brisket keeps juicy and both have a real good beefy favor, just salt outside and top with fresh garden tomato slice and slice of sweet onion.
Haven't had a McD since 1988 and don't frequent other burger chains or KFC or pizza chains. I only ever have a burger in a restaurant that makes its own and tells me what breed of beef it is and where grown and they come with cheese/onions/bacon and so on. Haven't had one for ages tho as none will do them without the bun tho I do know 2 places that serve them on a rösti instead. I make my own burgers with pork and apple. No bread. Beef mince is better in koftas or bolognese. When we want curry I have to make that too as the nearest decent curry house is in Dover.
Quite @ViewAhead and there are even better ones in West Ealing where I often stay with friends when visiting London. Haven't been for 3 years tho.
Cos it's a German immigrant from guess where @Sheal. Hannah Glasse - early English cookery writer, has a recipe for Hamburg sausage served in a bread roll in her book written in 1758 which pre-dates US independence by almost 20 years. Hot dogs were also introduced by an enterprising German immigrant called Charles Feltman.
I did not make up that name, LOL. Well, you asked. I found this. So talk to the Germans. The name of the German dish was shortened to “Hamburgs” and then, when the beef was eventually sandwiched between two slices of bread, to “hamburgers.” Some sources claim the word “hamburger” first appeared on a menu in 1873, when Delmonico’s restaurant in New York City advertised a hamburger steak.
Why are hot dogs called hot dogs? I assume its an American term? Dogs=sausage.US? Bangers= sausage UK Hot bangers doesn't sound quite the same.
Can you imagine eating 76 Hot dogs in 10 minutes ?? The chap who won the contest this year has actually won for the last few years too. Certainly beats those restaurants which advertise as much food from the buffet for a set price
I sometimes buy those sausages in a jar, I think they are in brine, Wikinger hot dogs. The foxes love them.
Maybe introduce a UK "How many briny sausages can be eaten in 10 mins ?" but only your foxes are allowed to compete. Downside being you may have to eat what's left
