Relentless, merciless sun. I had to walk into town this afternoon to collect my new glasses. 8000 steps at peak heat. I wore a big shady hat, full length trousers and a long sleeved shirt to protect myself from the sun. I passed a man in my street who was working on some hard landscaping in his front garden - topless of course, he just had a pair of shorts on. When I returned 2 hours later he was still out there.

I'm not venturing out again now until the heat stops. Anything I've forgotten to buy I'll have to do without.

30c here again not a cloud in the sky today.

My thermometers are only in the coolest place I can find, on a north facing wall, only catches a bit of sunshine late evening at this time of the year, in a month or so none all day.

The object being to actually catch the air temperature rather than any radiated heat.

31c out and 30c in the bedroom. There's no escaping it. But I think I'm starting to get used to it. It's just a shame that the garden is suffering.

Lots of small brown butterflies have appeared.

This time yesterday it was 28 with a slight breeze, and today it’s 30.5 and still. Ooof!

Recommend iced peppermint tea and a little spray bottle to spritz the skin.

Took the grandsons to our local beach, first time in over 20 years the sand was too hot to walk on, three hours and we beat a retreat for some shade.

Yes, a bit like meadow browns but smaller and more orangey and much more lively.

I don't like this heat. The temperature didn't drop below 17C/63F overnight. Sunny, hot and humid today with a few wispy clouds and just a twitch in the trees, 28C/82F.

Our high today was 27,5c for an hour, lovely for July. Now 23c with a nice fresh breeze. Heaven here with good night to look forward to.

It's not as hot as I thought it would be. It isnt too pleasant out in the sun but I did manage to rake all of the keys off the small area of the lawn around the town's rubbishy maple tree and pull all the invading black medic and creeping charlie. Now I've got the irrigation running and on it's timer, I sure don't want to water those darned things! 20250711_151446.jpg

Just had to shut all the windows due to the stinky barbecues. It smells like someone's burnt all the burgers.

This is something that really upsets me. People are so careless. They can't imagine that we are all waiting for the moment when the sun goes down and we can open the windows not only for our own relief but also to use the few hours to cool down houses.

We had 30C yesterday, and inside 27.9C. Currently 23.0C inside.
We can expect 30C again today.

Sunny 18c, it seems it's cooling down here slightly, probably the NE wind influence.
