I see your point @Obelix-Vendée but this quote from the Cycling Weekly magazine might suggest otherwise:

"ITV’s coverage peaked at 2.8million on Saturday and 4million viewers in the closing kilometres of Sunday’s dramatic stage 2"

Why is it that in this day and age drivers get lost!!!!
      Yesturday 8 wheeler with stone
      Today 12 wheeler with concrete
both had google maps running and they had human directions as well
both now on the right road :fingers crossed:
Good boy Jiffy for showing them the right way :pathd:
I just hope that when a big site open's soon that they all don't come down our lane as then i'll be given out lots of directions but if it become bad then i'll be giving wrong directions :heehee: and they will become lost and stuck :stirpot:

Why don't the sports lot just have cups/prizes/WHY handed out on a rota basis ? Might actually get the chance to see a decent programme occasionally.

I'm not sure there is much in the way of decent programming now, @Philippa, unless you are a fan of cookery shows, antiques markets, quizzes that wouldn't stretch a 10 yr old, etc. The watchable stuff seems to be increasingly scarce, tiny little islands in a stream of mind-numbing nonsense.

I agree with, @LunarSea, that they ought to be room for an event as prestigious as the Tour de France, especially as cycling is one of the more accessible participation activities for most people. All you need is two wheels, a frame, and a chain. No courts or indoor arenas or travelling to tracks needed. You can start at your garden gate. :)

ViewAhead that's just what I've been telling my partner for the last few years, we could have a tandem and instead of stopping she could sit at the back with one of them trays they used to have at the cinema and make sandwiches as we travel. I'm we would win but she thinks I'm mad

I would also recommend a gender appropriate saddle, it really makes cycling more comfortable.
I speak from experience having had a seat post shear just below the saddle some miles from home.

@LunarSea there may be plenty of viewers at the end but the darn race lasts for ages and probably costs far more to televise all the way thru than those late 4.8m warrant. Not something I'd watch.

A few years ago it started in the Vendée and spent a couple of days here passing just 12km up the road. I stayed home and gardened. I can do the scenery without the bikes.

Edited to add: 12million for last night's football. I didn't watch that either.

Tandems you want the powerful rider on the rear and the navigator on the front, so you'd be on the back, hoping the navigator didn't have wind.

Or you could make the sandwiches yourself before you set off and carry them in saddle bags @mac12 .

@LunarSea BBC haven't covered motorsport or cricket in years. Tennis is limited to Wimbledon - thankfully.
I also love the ITV4 coverage of the Tour de France. The chat between the commentators is always informative and entertaining. I've watched other coverage on TNT and find the commentary irritating, but not as irritating as the woman when they are talking to the pundits. She seems to have very little knowledge and cares more about getting the camera to concentrate on her.

I wonder who collates (makes up) the viewing figures for events. I've never been asked, and find it very hard to believe that 20% of the total population of the UK, or nearly 25% of the population of England, watched the final.

My moan is I cannot get a GP appointment for my Back, years of working as
a nurse/carer have done the damage. I have tried all the usual back rubs sold in Boots and the supermarkets. Any ideas of a back rub that works please.
