@KT53 the figures are collated by BARB - Barb Audiences - Wikipedia

@john558 your probably are more in need of gentle stretches to relax the muscles and nerves and reset your posture. Pilates classes are good or you could try this NHS approved routine -

Oops - but you can watch it via Youtube on the link given

That's peculiar because I have been asked 4.8 million times!

I'm not belittling the achievements of the lionesses in anyway but I didn't see one single George cross or England flag during the whole tornament locally, nor anyone in an England shirt. When the men are playing at a world cup or euro's you see flags everywhere, including the silly ones they have for car windows. The football mad houses didn't even have any visible signs of support like they normally do. If you didn't know already there was a tornament on, I don't think you would have stumbled upon that fact round here.

I personally believe that the bbc attempt to ram women's football down your throat, partially because of a push for equality, which is fine, but mainly because it's not commercial enough for the main sports channels to want it (a bit like athletics). The last womens world cup wasnt going to be shown because no one bid for it here or at least didnt bid very much before fifa crumbled amd just accepted a low ball offer. I'm sure as the game grows it will to dissappear from our free view screens.

@Thevictorian - up northwest, where most of the team are from, ther was loads of organised support in clubs and pubs.

OH says it's more entertaining and there are far fewer fouls and drama queens crying fake foul. Even I have noticed there are usually far more goals scored and I don't think disappointed fans run rampant thru streets trashing property or opposition supporters.

          Much more civilised.

Whatever we think about football in general and sports coverage, the English women's team and their coach have done something the men can only dream of and are to be congratulated.

The constant coverage ( including on the News slots ) of both men and womens football by the BBC is totally OTT. If they want to go for equality, they should reconsider their overall output and try to ensure the license fee is actually worth paying - at the moment, it isn't anywhere near offering value for money.

Agree @Philippa. We've had weeks now of the Beeb showing sports on both channels, thus offering no choice for those of us who just aren't interested. Fortunately I have recordings of gardening, cookery, history and other documentaries to keep me entertained and informed. I don't like their recent drama or comedy offerings.

Time to re-evaluate their priorities and start producing quality programmes.

@Obelix-Vendée you may be interested to know that BBC Radio 4 is recording an episode of "Any Questions" in our village hall next month. Unfortunately I only heard about it today and no tickets left so no chance of attending. I wonder whether any questions will relate to any of the issues raised on this forum.
Perhaps I'll go and stand outside with a placard to make a peaceful protest

Must admit to watching it now and then, I find concentration on any one programme difficult these days, I just watch something and it goes through my mind, There must be something worth watching better than this, and I change channels.
Of course we couldn't really do that years ago and was just happy with whatever drivel they gave us.

Women's football, yes in some ways its better than the men's game but it a bit like watching amatuer sides playing, I agree you dont get all the prima donnas holding their ankles all the time, but it appears slow in comparison.

Stopped watching women's tennis years ago, I found the baseline stuff awful, but the men have now copied it, used to like the old serve and volley stuff.

I think the BBC overdo sport of all kinds, especially when they put it on both BBC1 and BBC 2, not sure if they still do the red button stuff, poor souls can't afford it now, but that is where most of it should be.

Cricket I'm glad to say is fully covered on Radio5 live extra including TMS.
Sadly they squeeze Formula 1 and golf on the radio as well.

I'm not a cricket fan but I quite like the hundred.
Test matches should have died a death years ago, who has the time to watch days of boring stuff like that.

I stick it on the radio and garden around it, unlike football you can miss a period with no worries.

Penalty shootouts to save time? How about if the generals of every country that wants to fight a war do something similar?

My sympathies on this. My GP's mantra is never see a GP about a bad back unless it accompanies loss of bladder control.

If you find anything that works, I would love to know. I rely on a lot of heat, which I'm sure is not good for my kidneys, but needs must. I can't use any of the creams with Ibuprofen in, and none of the others (glucosamine, hemp, etc) seem to do much. You could try taking Turmeric supplements internally (my builder swears by these) or, if your digestion revolts at this, there are extracts you can rub on if you don't mind a rather earthy smell and bright yellow staining on absolutely everything it comes into contact with. :hate-shocked:

I'm afraid there does not seem to be an easy answer for bad backs.
