I cleaned my oven the other week after I noticed the bulb had given up, it says just unscrew the cover, no that wasn't happening. So I cleaned the oven and the shelves hoping that removing the gunk would allow the cover to unscrew, did it heck as like. Sprayed with WD 40 no good, cannot get a chain wrench in so I gave up before the cover broke.
Now I have a duff bulb and a clean oven and when the door's closed I cannot see the results of my hardwork.

Air fryer here. Gets dirty, get a new one!

Haven't had a proper oven since my built-in one broke in 2014.

I am glad I’m not the only person having a daft moment (or two), @pete.
Spent yesterday convinced it was Sunday, and really surprised to see Mail delivery vans out and about. Reminded myself it wasn’t Sunday, then came over all surprised that the local garage was open when we passed. Woke up this morning thinking I must remember to put the recycling out, only four days early for next Monday. Duh. Also note to self, if I am having difficulty getting my gardening boots on, it’s easier if I take my slipper off first! I wonder if I got a bit dehydrated yesterday?

The beauty of the airfryer is that it is so easy to clean. Only use our oven for Christmas, pizza, and if I’m cooking for family. However, I will be using it today. We have ended up with a glut of bread, so I’m going to make some bread pudding.

I said oven but I only use the grill on the cooker and the hob.
I have a combination micro wave that I use all the time for oven stuff.

Electric chip pan. Gets thrown away and a new one bought if it gets to grimy.

I'm very much anti herbicide/pesticide and don't believe councils should be allowed to use it. I don't think it's needed tbh as places like Paris have banned them and they still look spotless. The problem with weeds is down to laziness of the council's more than anything else or their inept workers. Here we have a passage that they can only access on foot and it has weeds but they do, to their credit, come along and scrape them off. It looks good and last for quite a while. This is a very different approach to the guy who drives around on a quad bike, swerving around cars or people, supposedly simultaneously spraying both the gutter and the boundary fences but because they are attemptin to do both at the same time, plus drive, the weedkiller never makes its anywhere near the intended target. Last time they came around they weren't even spraying as they had run out and not noticed but it wouldn't of mattered as it we had massive downpours minutes after anyway. Either way the weeds are never killed.

We also never get our verges mown and if they do, perhaps once a year, it's after everything has already gotten to 3ft high and they leave it all strewn over the path. Due to the waist height growth they also have a habit of killing the street trees with the strimmer ring barking them. It must be a great jolly to be part of the grounds team because they spend very little time working and alot of time hanging out at the boys club council hut on the local pitch and putt.

Some streets in Bristol don't get sprayed and the locals didn't like the weeds, so they got out there and clear them themself's

Five minutes of time make it look nice again

The BBC and Met Office have teamed up to combat weather disinformation. Apparently those of us who think 27 degrees is a normal summer's day are a danger to others as we are not taking heatwaves seriously enough. Fear must be ramped up to ensure people take necessary precautions and the BBC will embed climate change warnings in as much content as possible.

                    :doh::doh::doh:

This could be why BBC News insisted on hrs of unbroken coverage on tsunamis yesterday, despite all the initial warnings in Japan, Hawaii, etc, having been stood down hrs earlier.

Personally, I think the alarmist approach has the opposite effect to the one they hope for. You can only cry wolf so many times before you become the misinformation source.

I think the reason for the BBC/Met Office collaboration is because the BBC has been getting its info from an American organisation which, of course, Turnip has closed down or is going to close down, or make useless.

Had the same problem with ours. Got it out eventually by cleaning all the grease off the glass cover and then gripping it with my tight-fitting rubber-faced gardening gloves.

Yep tried the rubber gloves after cleaning and nowt. Mine is also in the top between the grill elements and not a lot of space.

Could also be the end of the contract and the Met Office had a good offer with continuity of service guaranteed.

Personally I will continue to look at the information available, factor in the various health conditions, the activity and it's location. Then I will decide what I'm doing.
While continuing to ignore people who tell me not to worry "they're crying wolf" and people who "tell me to run for the hills it's a disaster".
You should always take with a pinch of salt the highest and lowest results.

OH just ignores the weather forecasts if he wants to know if it’s going to rain, and studies the radar displays on the Met Office or Google Earth. I tend to look at the sky!
