With relatives visiting I've not posted for nearly a week. Up until today it's been dry, warm and humid. With the exception of 36 hours of steady rain at the beginning of last week the drought continues. I think the dryness of this year may well be a record breaker here.

Today it's dry and cloudy, feeling autumnal even with the temperature at 20C/68F.

Just home from work - it’s rained a fair bit but it’s warm and muggy. Still a few dark clouds and thunder warning until about 6pm. New parasol cover has arrived so I’ll sit under that, rain or shine, with a cuppa now.

          I can’t complain: 15l/sqm so far. That’s what I call a proper rain.

We had rain overnight and everything looks well watered. And it is 67f 18c and the clouds are now clearing out. Usually I'd be wearing long sleeves at this temperature but for some reason I'm quite comfortable in short sleeves. :dunno:

NO RAIN HERE! GIVE US YOUR RAIN.

We must be the only ones not to have rain. Ever.

Hot sunny day about 22c, but felt hotter. Tried to water the crispy front lawn with a watering can.

It will come one day @cactus_girl

Today was our first real rain in 5 months. There was 3x rain before but it didn’t wet the soil. I was as desperate as you.

We might get a bit rain on Sunday or Monday which wasn’t on the radar before.
I have to say that we got rain since the hosepipe ban.

I don’t think we will have the heat next week. It might get warmer a bit for two days but I can’t see the heat up to 30c. This is based on wishful thinking for middle Europe who had a total washout for the last 3 weeks. Their ground is soaked to the limit. The water buffaloes had to be moved into winter stalls because there is a chance of drowning. You can’t make that up.

I pray for all who have still no rain.

I notice the weather people are forecasting an Unseasonably deep low pressure to come in next week.
The number of years we have had an unseasonably deep low pressure in August is etched on my memory,
Shoring up bean rows that have been nearly destroyed is not unusual.
Staking plants that have grown lush with no real winds, in howling gales, has gone on for years, we at least usually get one.

Just makes me wonder how Unseasonable it actually is.

Thankfully we got off lightly with only 2 mm today.

A couple of showers which evaporated in the gusty winds and a few sunny spells, 23c by late afternoon.

We were 34.8c for a couple of hours. Now a wonderful 29c with a light breeze. However we go back under the Yellow High Temperature Warning tomorrow for the weekend, :phew: I feel sad for those up Central / North with the horrendous fires.

We will find out what really happened

I read yesterday that the BBC weather team will work together with the MetOffice again after a 8 year pause.
