Yes, it's that time of year again. It seems to come around so quickly .

First contestants for the new series are

"Nitro" (Harry Aikines-Aryeete) . One of the Gladiators, appeared in the last Strictly Christmas special

Dani Dyer. Personally I don't know much about her except that she's the daughter of Danny Dyer (EastEnders among other things), and is married to the West Ham footballer Jarrod Bowen.

Alex Kingston. Actress who I remember played Moll Flanders some years ago. She's also appeared in Dr Who.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink. Think I've spelt it right !
Former Chelsea player in the early 2000s.

Another one announced this morning .

Balvinder Sopal is an actor whose career spans theatre, radio, film and television. She is most known for playing the infamous Suki Kaur Panesar (now Unwin) on EastEnders since 2019.

We watch and enjoy Strictly despite rarely recognising many, if any, of the celebrities.

George Clarke. No, not the TV presenter from programmes such as "Amazing Spaces", but a YouTuber also known as George Clarkey.

Obviously being in the older demographic, never heard of him, but then I'd never heard of Joe Sugg either.

I've rarely heard of any of them but I enjoy most of the dancing and the costumes.

              A few more reveals.

La Voix. Finalist in last year's Ru Paul's Drag Race, and also a previous semi finalist on Britain's Got Talent.

Chris Robshaw. Former England and Harlequins Rugby captain. Think I'm right in saying he's married to the singer Camilla Kerslake.

Ellie Goldstein. Model, actress and disability campaigner.

The definition of 'celebrity' is getting stretched thinner an thinner. How can people who have done nothing more than appear on staged 'reality TV' programmes be classed as celebrities. I thought the alphabet only went as far as 'Z', and they don't even rate that high for me.

I wasn't going to say anymore,:mute: but why does it have to be "celebrities" cant they use unknowns, (ok they do seem to be doing that:biggrin:), but maybe find some new talent who can dance.
I just get fed up with other shows that have "celebrity specials", they always win and go away with the money, often for charity but its just downright boring stuff.
Programme makes are in a rut, well big hole really.

Don't watch much ITV so can't comment but the BBC is definitely getting to be Same old, same old. Still love Strictly tho but think some of the recent scandals may have put some people off taking part and it's also a great deal of hard work for any competitor who does it properly so they need real commitment. Good publicity for some tho and a good career boost too.

Not just the BBC - every media outlet, whether "news" or "entertainment" seems to have sunk to a level which it considers fitting for todays mindset and attention span.

5 mins of dancing to 20+ minutes talking about it. Count me out. Last year I did watch some videos of the actual routines though, because I was fascinated to see how Chris McCausland (the blind contestant) would perform. I think they're going to have a hard time finding a more exciting contestant than him.
They've got a drag queen on it this year which is another reason for me to give it a miss. I've already given up on Sewing Bee because of all the they/theming.
