    Mine is still a cutting which I grew on from an old plant which had grown far too big to bring inside during the winter months. I bought the original many years ago - from a specialist nursery but no idea which one or whereabouts it was - sorry not to be of much help :)

      No problem, will keep a lookout for them in the garden centers, if not will have to take pot luck and rely on ebay reviews. Seem to be a fair few at various prices on Etsy, but not a market place we have used.
      Thanks

        I'm guessing, when ripe, it will have a smell similar to ripe melon.

          Interesting...........don't remember mine producing a seed pod even when full of flowers. Are you going to try germinating any when ready @Victoria ?

          I've had seed on Epiphyllums in the past, but you need more than one flower open at the same time and possibly a different plant, I get the feeling they are not self fertile but hybridize very easily.

          Firstly, thanks for this thread- I just looked up and realised my Fishbone has sprouted large buds apparently overnight :)

          I used to get seed pods often when growing Christmas cacti, and dropped some ripe looking ones into pots but never got anything. Leaf cacti are so easy to propagate from cuttings I didn't pay much attention as I didn't realise they might hybridize to produce something interesting.

          Are leaf cacti sort of relaxed with their genetics to produce mutations/ hybridisations on their own? I can see Violas doing that.

          @NigelJ , any thoughts?

          I really don't know much about these. I struggle to keep Christmas cacti going and more recently epiphyllum have been a complete disaster for me.
          I know most epiphyllums are complex hybrids and there are a lot of them. This might be of interest Stichting Epric if you go to the shop, links on home page, you will see the range of colours and shapes available.
          Also this nursery has a fantastic selection of unusual succulents including a large number epiphyllum Webshop for unusual succulents I bought from him pre Brexit and was pleased with what I received. Since Brexit neither will supply the UK maybe a continental friend or relative could act as go between.
