@pete, space is limited for planting either of them but I will find room for one although I don't expect any real growth as the summers here nothing like as warm and sunny as the East and South East.
I just noticed a flower spike emerging on the Butia.

I think you will get growth but its flowering that might be a bit shy.

Mine has had only patchy flowering this year despite being potted on.

I dont think I've watered it enough, they seem to like lots of water in my experience of the plant,

I did keep watering mine and gave it a couple of tomato feeds when I first saw buds coming.

It looks a bit yellow, or is that just the lighting and camera.

@pete that was the in-camera processing, it is more green than in the photo.

I hung the Tillandsia outside for the Summer on various shrubs instead of leaving it in the greenhouse and just noticed there were a couple of flowers.

A visit to Coleton Fishacre Gard on the south Devon coast last Friday. Being in a valley it probably never sees a frost.
I have never seen a Tibouchina growing outside or a Bougainvillea climbing up a wall, there was little flower now but amazing to see.

My Tibouchina struggled and died. Typically Bouganvillea only bloom on new growth.

My bougie is standing up to the gale force winds pretty well, I find its even good at not rotting in wet weather unlike some flowers.

I love that colour. Used to be a favourite here but not seen much now.

Do you find yours blooms better on new growth. My two do.

                          Bougainville Bonsai.jpg

I suddenly thought, I bought this Bougie Bonsai many years ago and it sadly slowly died with two colours "falling off" having been grafted on. Jim sort of planted it in the corner of Kitty Kat Korner behind the trellis and forgot about it. He said it is alive so I have said I want him to retrieve it.

I can't see it but he says it is behind the big Bougie in the corner. I will come back on this.

I have just lost a 6 foot branch on the Acacia today in the gale force winds. There was a lot of new growth on it with flower buds just forming.:frown:
