Age UK still takes cds and dvds. Indeed, my local one still takes cassette tapes! :thud:

@JennyJB, I've often wondered what happens to cds put in the container at the recycling centre.

@ViewAhead as far as I'm aware, cd's aren't recyclable and just go to landfill.

Ah, I wondered if they got shredded and reused in some way. When you think of all the cds and dvds ever sold, that's a heck of a lot of landfill down the line. :hate-shocked:

More likely to go to the incinerator these days.
Still got all my CDs and listen to them.

              As have I.

Old computer discs or printer software, newspaper freebies etc were used as bird deterrents down our allotment. They don't seem to last that long before the go brittle and cracked.

Landfill sites must be very noisy places - imagine all that rubbish singing and dancing along with the CD/DVD's

There were 5 banks in Ramsgate, now only one left.

I assume the ones collected at our recycling centre go for some sort of sale or reuse rather than just being destroyed/recycled for the material, because the info. on the council's website says original CDs & DVDs only, no copies.

Don't dump your cd's, both those and vinyl are making a comeback. I bought three new cd's earlier in the year and waiting on a fourth to be released soon.

We use them to keep the pigeons off the veggies and it works well but it doesn't work for the slug problem.

We hang them in our apple trees to keep the bullfinches off the fruit buds. It works for a little while, then the birds get used to them...

Don't you believe it. I'm convinced slugs and snails can abseil. I don't know any other way they could attack my hostas.

I've seen a slug abseil. It climbed up a Kerria, slithered to the end of a branch, and let go, dropping directly onto a tasty hosta leaf! You've gotta admire the forward planning!
