    Hello
How long do you think it will take for the fruit to be edible or is thiswhatit shouldlooklike. Any suggestions for improving the quality of the fruit?

Assuming it's a blueberry: how long it will take to ripen depends on the weather, which of course depends on where you are in the country and how much sun/shade it gets in your compound.
As for the quality of the fruit you'll have to decide when you taste it.
What do you think the problem is with the fruit?
If I remember rightly this is a young plant so quantity and possibly quality could well improve as the plant matures.
If it was mine I'd remove the chicken wire imprisoning it.

Yes I think it must be cranberry. You have to be patient with fruit bushes, they can take a few years to get into their stride.

I think that's actually a Chilean guava, Ugni molinea. They crop quite late in the season for me but they don't get as much sun as they would like. I would just make sure it gets a sunny spot and stays moist.
They should be ready when they have a deep red colour.

When I first looked at the picture I did think it looked like Chilean Guava, mine has a more upright habit though.
However I was sure the op had mentioned blueberries earlier in the year.

I've got an ungi that @CarolineL sent me a couple of years ago, I planted it out last year and it got quite badly damaged by frost in December.
So I potted it up again this year but no fruit, looking much better though, I'm sure the fruit ripened in mid summer last year.

I was wrong. I thought mine had ripened and fallen off earlier. So Ive just eaten these. They were good and ripe, though poor crop compared to previous years.
@pete this is the same as the one I gave you called myrtus ugni "kapow". I wonder if that clone is less frost proof.
