    Good morning,
Can anyone help with identifying this?
I bought it three years ago and in Year1 it was severely affected by slugs and did very little. In Year 2 it did nothing and I assumed it was dead but left six inches of withered stalk sticking out to mark its passing.
This year it showed some signs of life so I put some heavy anti slug protection around it and let it grow. About a month ago it produced some odd flower buds and now it has popped out these really attractive pink flowers.
I had in my mind something to do with chocolate, but the label is long gone.
    Thanks for helping,
    Mike

Hi @Silver surfer OP said it's 3 yr old, and I thought acetosella was frost tender. Could it be moscheatus?

First it would help to know where Mozziedodger, lives?

I really wish this site made everyone show roughly where they live...it is relevant to the queries.
        Maybe Mike lives in Florida?????

        Yes I thought about that.
It is the leaves I was looking at./thinking about.

Quote www..."There are around 300 species of hibiscus plants, but cranberry hibiscus is one of the showiest with vibrant pink and red flowers and palmate leaves in a dramatically dark burgundy hue."

I found Summerific® 'Cherry Choco Latte' and concidered it but again leaves are not the correct shape.
          Flowers are ginormous.

Hi, apologies, I’m in sunny Southport. I don’t recall exactly where this came from, but I would think, Sooties in Tarleton would be must likely. It’s currently chucking it down, but as soon as it passes over I’ll go and take some more photos, the leaves are quite distinctive and not uniformly olive brown.

            Thanks.
Sadly I do not have the knowledge to take id any further.
There are around 300 species of Hibiscus plants.

Please can you add SOUTHPORT to your location for any future posts
I added Perthshire. Scotland to mine.

I have hibiscus coccineus which has very similar leaves - these look different to the moscheatus I also have (they are fatter and less fingery - if that's a word). But my coccineus flowered a straightforward red - so yours is.... different.

I would agree it is Hibiscus moscheutos but I do not have it because it likes cooler weather than I can offer, but it is very beautiful.

Mystery Hibiscus has deeply lobed leaves..virtually palmate.
Sorry Victoria but to me the leaves of Hibiscus moscheutos are very different as mentioned earlier.
