    Can't say I've noticed it.

If they are trying to change then stopping somewhere in the middle might be a good idea.

If they are changing it's probably more to do with popular opinion and the fact more and more people are not buying a licence.

One interesting point an interviewed "Professor of Demonstrations" or some such made was a lot of the anti-racist marchers were the same people who attend weekly demos supporting Palestine.

It's almost become a Saturday hobby for some, I think.

I agree the BBC is gritting its teeth and reporting on Farage and Reform without sneering like it used to.

One big problem is we have a generation of young people who have been brainwashed by schools and universities into believing any opinion that doesn't chime exactly with theirs is "triggering" and must be silenced. We may have huge numbers going through higher education, but the result is not graduates who can think critically and discuss ideas coherently. They have been robbed by the system, both financially and intellectually.

The BBC news appears to have moved to the right simply because the right is making a lot of noise at the moment.
In this country Stephen Christopher Yaxley-Lennon and his supporters are shouting the odds and sticking flags everywhere. Nigel Farage is creating a racket about being the next Prime Minister and hoping nobody spots his dodgy tax affairs. So the BBC reports these things.
In the US you have the Conservative Christian Alt Right running the place assisted by the Techno Oligarchs; this assemblage is cheerfully threatening anybody they don't like or has something they want. So again the BBC reports this on the news.
In the Middle East you have Benjamin Netanyahu and his right wing Government bombing/shelling/starving anyone they feel like and if anybody says anything they are being anti Semitic supporters of terrorism. So again this is reported on the BBC News.
If the left makes more noise it will be reported more.

We will get an idea if the BBC are changing when we see the reporting of Trump's visit.
Last time he came it was pretty diabolical for a visit from a head of state.
Almost verging on taking the pee at times.

Can't say I've noticed that. They still publish endless stories about Drag Queens and "respect the pronouns" of convicted male criminals who claim to be women.

The last time Trump was here, the Queen as well as most people didn’t like him. The BBC only reflected what everyone thought :)

Well, I seem to remember all kinds leaders from some really dodgy countries coming on state visits from time to time, I don't remember the reporting being quite so derogatory as when the elected president of the US came.

Again, most people, I think it was those with the loudest voices rather than the silent majority, many of who probably didn't care one way or the other.

The official line was spun by the media that we didn't like him, and so that is what everyone was expected to follow.

I think people are beginning to see through the official lines we are expected to follow a bit more these days.

There can be a programme for all likings. I am personally not interested in these woke things and I don’t watch them and so, I don’t complain.
The programmes I watch don’t have that. I wouldn’t even notice this woke stuff, if I wasn’t permanently told by others that these things are shown.
OH only watches amazon/netflix and tries to convince me to watch films that someone made up. Recently I gave up, and we watched together Slow Horses on Apple TV. Series 1 was okay, series 2 was already looking for action scenes, and I stopped at series 3 episode 3 when Gary Oldman was still walking through London since episode 1. What a crap, I said.
What annoys me is that people tell me I’m not allowed to watch my programmes because there are other programmes they don’t like and if it were up to them, the BBC and Freeview could be turned off and I have to live without telly.
I wouldn’t even dream of telling someone what to watch.
Just don’t watch this woke stuff and you have nothing to complain.

It has always been the strange thing that the minority makes so much noise pretending they speak for the majority.

I'm really very tired of mentions of left and right wing, and of things being woke. Frankly I don't understand the labelling, nor do I care to, and it's exhausting trying to figure out why certain people have their knickers in a twist or why I need to give a damn about it.
All it seems to be achieving, is giving licence to influential people to be bullies and I have no time for that.

Not seen the TV adaptation Slow Horses, but it is based on a series of books by Mick Herron that are absolutely riveting. A new one came out this week! Yay! :yay:

@NigelJ, whilst I am sure Farage's tax affairs would not stand up to scrutiny, neither did those of a recent Conservative Chancellor or other prominent members of the gov in both main parties.

It's clear yesterday's huge protest had a LOT of money behind it. Whose, that is the question!

I, also, don't watch much in the way of television and don't have any social media. I also don't really understand what the word 'woke' is supposed to be saying. I've always known it as meaning no longer asleep. :noidea:

@shiney and @Loofah Woke as defined by wikipedia:

Woke is an adjective derived from African-American English used since the 1930s or earlier to refer to awareness of racial prejudice and discrimination, often in the construction stay woke. The term acquired political connotations by the 1970s and gained further popularity in the 2010s with the hashtag #staywoke.

For Trump's mob it's an insult. For others it means caring about how people are treated.

I think it says more about a lot of the people who use food banks, they obviously find they are left with the fresh stuff, so tins and sealed packets are easier.

Never used the word woke, and I do get fed up with hearing it.
Just a simple word like stupidity would do imo, if you don't agree with something say it as it is, we don't need these strange words being used.
If you think it's stupid just say so.
