Well it might get you into the cinema for free but I doubt you'd get a job in a nail bar with it.:roflol:

I remember taking great pleasure in using my bus pass as ID for an internal flight in the UK! I did take my passport as well, just in case, but was pleased that the bus pass was accepted without any quibble.

I wouldn't know where to buy it either @Obelix-Vendée. I wonder if it's available in health food shops or delicatessens?

There's no point in having a driving licence for id when the DVLA won't let us update our photo's on them. I renewed mine last year and my mug shot was taken about 20 years ago.

After reading about cherry juice, I checked the shelves in Waitrose this afternoon, and they had bottles of cherry juice. £7.50 for a litre, and drink within 3 days of opening, so I didn’t buy any! They also had a carton of cherry and beetroot juice, but it seemed to contain more apple juice than anything else. I would struggle to get OH to drink anything that supposedly had beetroot juice in! ( although he does like beetroot) I did buy a pack of English cherries instead.

I've just had a look around on the web @Ergates and quite a few shops sell it but it tends to be a mix with something else. This one below is pure juice from what I can see on the ingredients.

Organic Tart Cherry Pressed Juice | Biona | H&B

Edit: If it has the desired effect I'd rather drink that than swallow medicine, although I don't have gout.

Yes, I bought some once, quite expensive, cheaper to just get Allopurinol off the doc, had Colchicine once but that's a killer, literally.

How much does cyber attacks cost though? M&S, JLR, CO-OP spring to mind recently.

A company that provides digital ID cards to a number of organisations in the UK were hacked in 2023 with some of the staff at Greater Manchester Police being exposed to the public domain, including undercover police officers.

Just another thing for fraudsters to copy. Fake ID cards.

I used to be against ID cards but there seems to be all your information out there on the Web somewhere these days that I can't see that it makes much difference.
I do wonder how much money it's going to cost and how many goes they have at introducing before they get it working.

I'm sure Starmer has it all sorted out. :roflol:

Re gout and cherry juice, my neighbour takes a supplement containing cherries that he gets from Amazon and it has cured his gout. :blue thumb: He's on holiday at the moment, but when I next see him, I'll ask him what it's called.

Re ID cards, I would have few objections if it just held your name, date of birth, and citizenship status. But what is planned is that it will link all your contact with the gov. Plus, it will give the authorities a huge lever of control over your life. During the pandemic, the Australian gov wanted to stop any unvaccinated person entering shops or pharmacies. The Canadian gov wanted to freeze the bank accounts of any unvaccinated trucker, and anyone who assisted them financially. With ID cards, that would become frighteningly easy. (And before those who are pro mandatory vaccination progs leap in, (a) there are many reasons someone might not have a vaccine and (b) I am just using the vaccine situation as an example of what can happen if govs have very easy ways of enforcing things).

It has already been suggested in parliament that teens who did not do National Service should be barred from getting driving licences. An ID card would allow all manner of whims to be enacted. It is just foolish to give that level of power to people who need to use control to keep their jobs.

And all this is before you even start looking at the hacking potential, which would be absolutely HUGE! And if anyone thinks the gov could run a secure, accurate system, I'm impressed by their level of optimism. ;)

I don't know if it's true but on the radio they were saying that the cards could store up to 700 pieces of information about us
Personally I'm against them I've got I'd for what I need so in my opinion it should be voluntary
