now im really confused lol...Im not sure now what my cup amount is afterall..im off to check..im sure its 4 oz... iv used it for all the recipes l find that say 'cup'....but it always seems to work as long as l use the set l have for flour, sugar, oil, milk etc. im confused why it works if usual cup is 8oz

yep, just checked..the cup set iv got is definitely 4 oz and the 1/2 cup is 2oz.. so that recipe l followed must have been that same measurements as it says' 2 eggs..which is right for 2 cups flour ie 8oz of flour..lol..l think that's right for a cake mix lol..im getting my self confused

@Peaceful Gardener if it works, that's great. Our measuring cups have one side imperal and the other in metric. Most of our recipes are imperial measure.

Has anyone dried chives? Any advice would be appreciated. They add lovely colour and a hint of onion to my pasta salads.

Iv not grown/ eaten quines Adam 1..will be interest to know what recipes can be made for them . l'll take a look in my old cook books..if anything looks interesting, will post on here for you.

Sunday afternoons in Autumn is movie day for us and we always have a 'high tea', so Sunday mornings is usually my baking morning. I'm having a struggle day today ( too much gardening all wk :( so husband is helping in kitchen today. I'm making a savory tomato quiche, a crunchy potato salad, and a cucumber and chive salad. Dessert is a Pear and Plum Harvest flan. ( no plums left from this yr harvest ,but loads of damsons, so hoping they will work ) The toms, parsley, thyme, potatoes, celery, chives and damsons all from the garden. Not made any of these recipes before so hoping will be good. Recipes all from my cook book ' Traditional Farmhouse Fare from Farmers Weekly. With husbands help this morning, it should'nt take very long. Movie iv chosen is ' You've Got Mail' lv never seen it before :)

I have made vast quantities of roasted Ratatouille. I add a little chilli which is not in the classic version but adds a bit of a kick. It freezes very well and has used up a huge quantity of tomatoes, courgettes, peppers, garlic and made a very small dent in my massive onion harvest this season. I will also be making big batches of French onion soup but not got round to that yet.

I have quince but never really recovered from attempting to bite into one thinking it was an apple. I was only about 10 years old at the time but sour didn’t quite describe what it was like. I didn’t know before this episode that I could contort my face into something not out of place in a horror film.Suffice to say the quince are not harvested!

In the years that my quince has fruited I have picked them just for the perfume, and left them in a fruit bowl for weeks. No fruit this year; it set some but must have dropped them in the dry weather.
They're supposed to be good if you add just a little to an apple pie or crumble, though bearing in mind that the quince needs longer cooking than the apple does.

@Peaceful Gardener thank you for the recipe.

I used muffin papers instead of a pan so that I can easily share them. I ate one and liked it and I rarely eat fruits. Yum!
