I'm cooking brussels tonight :blue thumb:. I shall fry thinly sliced onions and a small amount of fresh ginger and garlic, then add sliced brussels and stir fry and finish off stir frying them in a small amount of chicken stock. The brussels taste nice and no rear end action that way.

I just boil them, taste alright to me, probably the only greens I actually like.

@Obelix-Vendée, do you have a reaction to asparagus as well, ‘interesting’ smelling urine after eating it? For years, I thought I suffered from mild urine infections until I found out that some people (me included) produce a chemical from asparagus - an alternative theory is that everyone produces the chemical, but not everyone can smell it.
Don’t have anything similar with Brussels sprouts, which I love. This winters British harvest has just become available in our supermarket, I’m on my third bag already! Got to make the most of them before the season ends in the spring. I like them just microwaved with a knob of butter.

I was buying some of OHs favourite wild garlic free range sausages, I’m not a fan of sausages, and saw some with apple and cheddar, thought I’d give them a try. OH was horrified at the idea, but I’ve had two for my lunch, and my goodness, they were delicious! I just have to make sure I don’t get them mixed up in the airfryer, or he might blow a gasket! Or maybe not, if he didn’t know what he was eating and just judged them by how tasty they are!

I've just ordered some Brussels.. not had them for a while, so I am going to pinch your idea @shiney and try them that way. I do quite like them to be fair. Very nice with garlic, diced pancetta, little bit of oil and roasted in the air fryer

I have faxed to Brussels, many moons ago, when we had a team working there.

@shiney - raw in salads, stir-fried, boiled, steamed, roasted, plain, with spices, nuts, butter. Nothing works. Just ghastly.

Love green asparagus @Ergates but it's hard to find here and expensive, even when in season and grown in France or Spain so I sowed seed in spring and have just planted the results.

Sausages have to be proper with pork and herbs/spices/onion/garlic and no rusk to pad them out. We like ours fat and herby. I used to buy them with fennel seed in Belgium but have never seen them here but then there isn't an Italian population here.

Going back to digital ID briefly I heard that one did not have to have it on your smart phone. So hubby said he'd have his on his desk top.

I love brussels and broccoli. Stir fried broccoli is best.

There was an elderly gent on the table behind us when we were out for a meal earlier. I suspect he must have been on the sprouts - it wasn't a terribly pleasant eating environment. Unfortunately we had started eating before he started expelling!

Well there I was all fired up to do a job in the house this morning. After examining the fault and thinking it through I'd ordered the replacement part. So I set about doing the repair .... and it was done in less than five minutes. Can you imagine my disappointment.

Ok it was only one of those fancy hinges on a kitchen cupboard where the spring had gone so it didn't open or close properly, but I can't quite believe how easy it was to a) separate the hinges from their brackets, b) then determine which of two had developed the fault, and c) attach the new one to the original 25-year-old bracket and re-hang the door. A pair of new hinges only cost me £7, and I've still got a spare one.

Heat sealed packaging on DIY items. Having got the new window handle from the DIY store it took me as long to open the package as to do the job.
