Ah, that's why I liked it. I don't like Terry Pratchett (Not Hatchett  ) very much but Douglas Adams was an important part of my upbringing. Thanks @NigelJ

        1. I managed to enrol for another year of Windows 10 security updates. I think they have been shamed into making it available to anyone in the UK free-of-charge and without conditions. It was very easy to do as well.

        2. Got a renewal notice from Saga for our car insurance and it's considerably cheaper than our premium last year. That just never happens! I mean £204 vs. £327. And the excess has actually fallen. Blimey O'Reilly!

Microsoft has made an exception for Europe not just the UK because 53% still use Windows 10, and so they extended it for 1 year.

@LunarSea that saying you've got on your profile about learning to dance in the rain - I had it on my profile too some time ago. Can't remember where I saw it originally, but it is true.

Yeah I recently saw it on a poster hanging in the 'garden room' at my auntie's care home. Seemed very appropriate for her situation cos' she's having a difficult time adapting.

I think the media highlighted the fact that many of those 53% are using computers that cannot be upgraded to Windows 11 and would therefore end up scrapped if the owners wanted to continue to use Windows-based software safely.

Just back from a beach walk and it was lovely and fresh. Well worth the (mainly) uphill walk home:)

Received an e-mail from our car breakdown cover with the RAC that our cover goes up from £256 to £370. That’s steep I thought and gave them a call.
Had to wait 2 minutes (remarkable in these days) and got a nice young man on the phone. I’m down to £270.
That’s what I call loyalty to longtime customers.

I managed to fix my Mustang power window. A great deal of swearing (inside voice only) and prying happened before I got the old motor out. After I got the new one in and wired, I waited a few minutes before testing it because I was uncertain if I'd done it correctly and wanted to delay possible disappointment. It worked. I put the car door back together and am super happy. :)

And I stowed my garden fork and shovel. All of the hard digging is done for this year :)

And I replaced the dc powered fan in one greenhouse because the old one was starting to literally come apart at the seams.

And I got my solar panel/battery array wiring resorted and working efficiently. There was a battery that wasn't holding energy and some wires that got squirrel chewed.

And now I'm enjoying a lovely cup of tea. :)

I get it with my car insurance, nothing fancy, but I usually add homestart.

The car insurance is under £400, not sure without checking.
